Royal Manchester Golf Links
About
Situated along the shores of the Susquehanna River, Royal Manchester Golf Club is tucked away in the rolling hills of northern York County. The course is just a few miles outside Harrisburg but the traditional links design will transport you to the seaside courses of the British Isles. Like the Old Course at St. Andrews and Royal Latham, which served as the inspiration, the golf course has an open, windswept landscape with only two bodies of water. The 15th, the longest par 3 on the course, is the only hole set among the few trees that dot the landscape. The most formidable challenge comes from the prevailing winds as well as the strategically placed bunkers. Royal Manchester Golf Club finishes with a memorable view of its signature waterfall that cascades down into a sparkling pond.

Amazing Conditions
They had amazing conditions for a course in PA in February. I have played this course a lot and there were only two differences between now and the summer, no tall grass on the mounds, and the greens were slower. Other than those two differences, it was the same course. If you have the chance to play this course in the beginning of the season, make it a priority because you will not be disappointed.
Nice Course
Really nice course and excellent friendly service at clubhouse. The links type required keeping the ball in the fairway.....or having a good inventory of replacement balls in my bag. The greens were fantastic and rolled true. We will be back again. Good value!! I highly recommend to others.
Great layout
Fantastic golf course. My only issue is the pace of play can be slow at times. Hard golf course which should not be played by begginers. To much time searching for balls slows the pace of play to the point it's painful. Always love to play here when I have the chance.
A lot for your money
I have played at a lot of golf courses this year from Florida to New York and I must say I was really impressed . The fairways the greens everything was in great condition we got a lot for our money today. I would recommend this course to anyone.
great course
this course was well maintained and lots of fun to play the tall grass had recently been cut down. I can't wait to to come back and play with the high grass
One fine piece of real estate.
Wanted to play here in 2015 but Dupont made sure that didn't happen.....Fwd to 2016 and after a busy year playing Myrtle and several local country clubs I finally got in the car and drove the 1.3 hours from Avondale , Pa. to Royal Manchester after getting tired of reading rave reviews.... Hot deal from Golfnow made up for the gas $ used. From tee to green conditions were above average , the layout was extremely enjoyable with multiple memorable holes. A links course throughout except for the longer par 3 on the back which featured a green surrounded by trees. Some local knowledge may have improved my experience since this was a 1st time here but all told , a reasonable course to negotiate. If I was to offer any tips.... one would be to select a smaller target off the tee to increase fairways hit and... two would be whatever break you're reading for your putt , cut it in half. Don't miss the "crock burgers" in the restaurant which are ready instantly at the turn. I'll be back real soon for another enjoyable....affordable experience.
This course has great features
A few tee boxes were in bad shape. The greens had alot of ball marks because a few golfers won't take the time to fix their own ball mark. This is no respect for the golf course and other golfers.
Great Day For Golf
Been to many courses in the area and they have had problems with greens, fairways and tee boxes due to the weather conditions in the area. Royal Manchester was in excellent condition except for many of the tee boxes.
Back In Shape
Royal Manchester is a beautiful and challenging layout. We played on a near-perfect day. Pace of play was good for a holiday weekend. Surprising # of couples enjoying the course which was great to see.
You have to keep it in the short grass here or very near the fairway. Don't head off into the high stuff looking for a ball -- you won't find it. Drop one and move on. Don't hold up play.
What a Layout!!!!
Great course!!! MUST PLAY!!!
Best course in the area
Royal Manchester offers a challenging test of any golfer's skills with a links style layout. The greens roll true and are maintained with expert level care. The scenic views of rolling fairways that are framed with fescue makes this course a hidden gem in The York area. Highly recommended.
Outstanding Design, Outstanding Condition, Outstanding Staff
We teed off on one of the hottest, muggiest days so far this summer. Shoes and thunderstorms were threatening, and they hit with a vengeance! We came in after four holes to wait out the storm, tried again when it ended, and scurried right back when lightning struck very nearby. We completed our round after the storms passed.
The course drains very well as it is built on mounds of fly ash mixed with sand from the power plant that looms over the course. These mounds provide visual barriers between fairways so that one feels secluded while on the course. The course architecture is very appealing with a variety of ups, downs, and doglegs.
Fairways and greens are in wonderful shape. Sand in the bunkers is very nice to play out of, even after a heavy rain. Blue, white. gold, and red tees are well placed to give every golfer a chance at par. Even first timers can find their way around these links easily, thanks to outstanding signage on the cart paths.
This is the best course I've played in south central PA.
love this course
we had a wonderful round of golf. the course is beautiful, well kept up. all the staff and amenities are very nice. looking forward to another round there
Great course.
Love to play here. Come back as often as possible. Top notch all the way around. Greens are fantastic. Thanks for providing such a great golf experience.
Great course and excellent greens!
I would recommend this course to just about anyone who like to golf!
Beautiful course in great condition!
Outstanding! We will be back as often as possible.
Great layout
Loved this course! Wonderful layout, huge greens, and plenty of trouble. Not a tree on the course, that should be in play. Greens were the fastest I've seen in a long time.
You're still away
I have played about 25 different courses this year since January. Royal Manchester by far has the most difficult to read greens of any I played. I mean this in a good way. The fairways are in great shape as well as everything else. Lets just get to putting,,, When you read greens you see something as a target , you put,, and you are ok with the outcome most times. A fellow I was with said the word " Diabolicol " I've only heard that on the Golf Channel until now. Your best bet is to watch what other players end up with,, and that's no guarantee. fast, slow,, it does not matter it's more like " how does a ball do that ??? break away hard 2" from the cup Yikes, Wow,, Unbelievable,, all words describing missed puts. Bring your A B or C game here but bring an extra putter. Good Luck.
I'll be back.
