course needs some work
Overall, I liked the layout of the course. However, there are several factors that need improvement. First, the course was REALLY beat up. It looked as if the fairways had gotten a fungus or something was burning them up. Next, it's nice to see greens with undulations, but putting many pins in locations that are right on the edge of the mounds is a joke. On the 8th green, one of the players missed his putt and it almost ran back into a bunker. Next, the tee boxes seems to be slanted so that you are not level. Finally, a marshal on the course would have been appreciated. The group in front was a 2-some and the group in front of them never let them through. Somehow, my group of three often had to wait on the 2-some.
Great course!
Course is in great shape! Greens are way to much for a public course they actually slow down play. Long par 5 . Sand traps can be tricky. Very very nice to play
Outstanding course
This course is in as good a shape as any public or private course in the Delaware Valley. It's a serious challenge with greens that are like roller coaster rides but they don't go wild with pin placements and the greens are not rocket fuel fast either. There's some long, challenging holes. If your playing it for the first time bring along someone who's played the course before because local knowledge goes a long way at Lederach. Some of the course will infuriate the first time player like the impossible to hold eighth green. This course could qualify as quirky but I think that the fees that are charged here will leave you feeling you got a bargain playing Lederach.
Interesting but too tricked up
Still has some conditioning issues in fairways, tough to play with many blind shots, but if you played more would be easier. Does not help speed of play trying to find balls. Many greens with huge slopes. So bring your sense of humor. Nice property. Just overdid it on too many holes to want to play a lot. Certainly not a boring course.
Needs attention
I found the tee boxes, and course in rough shape. I was surprised there were no washers for the balls on each hole.
I am glad I got such a good deal on Golf Now because if I paid $50 or $60 to play this course I would be upset.
Great layout
Great course and layout, pace of play was a bit slow for my taste, 5 hrs. The greens have awesome undulations and are in great condition but could have been mowed a good bit down as they were overly fluffy and shoe spike marks were a real problem putting.
The course was in good shape.
The main issue I had with the course was the crazy pin placements. While i liked the green size and shape some pins were placed in places that were almost unaccessible. That did detract from the experience.
Course needs a ranger
Course needs a ranger on Saturdays to keep pace of play - group ahead was holding the entire course up and never saw a ranger once come by to speed the group up. This slow play caused numerous groups to be waiting on one tee box at a time.
Great course but they at letting course conditions deteriorate. Have seen a sharp decline over a 2 year period.
Maintenance an issue. Pace of play is ok but not great. Price of $75 is steep considering all of the other options.
Greens SLOW and too undulated
This course doesn't deserve the rating and ranking that it has. I've seen and played over 500 courses in the US and abroad and this place is a joke. They should have a Clowns Head and Windmill on half the greens. The layout is superb but the greens are too undulated if they flatten the greens a bit they would be able too speed them up. The greens were probably rolling about 7.5 to 8. The bunkers also are in need of restoration and detailing. Two(2) of the bunkers were filled with water. If they flatten the greens and make the course more of a value I would probably play there again, if not, they got me once but not again!!! Also it would pay them to have a starter and ranger and place handicaps for recommended tees on scorecard, our pace of play was over 5-1/2 hours.
Great Course with Great Attitude
We were fortunate to get a nice discount with Golfnow.com and played Lederach for the first time. Staff was quite friendly and the course was in superb condition. The course reminds me of a resort course - because it runs through a beautiful residential neighborhood. Many forced carries. Bring a few extra balls because of heavy fescue. Undulating greens. We enjoyed the experience and will be back.
Tough and Challenging
The course is tough, mostly due to blind approach shots and undulating greens. If you are off the fairway in many circumstances it is going to cost you and I would suggest buying a yardage book in the pro shop if you don't have GPS with you. There are many approach shots to undulating greens that having the right number will really help.
Needs work inside and out
Layout is great, but course needs work. Certain areas were rough in need of care. Round was five and 1/2 hours long due to slow play with no ranger seen all day. Clubhouse was poor with 15 minute wait for cold dogs and warm beer. I wouldn't be back!
Not a bad trac the greens are a littlr tricked up.
Play was slow, course was in good condition. The greens are a little to slow also would like to see them faster.
Beware slow play (even on weekdays)!
It took us more than 5 hours to play 18 on a Wednesday. No ranger seen on the course even though the course was packed.
Slow
Course was in fantastic shape but a 5+ hour round is ridiculous.
Great course poorly managed
Nice course but not managed well. Pro shop not very proactive. Need better front end management of prepping carts, getting starter more organized, more ranger presence on course, faster and better food service at the turn and pro shop folks to be more aggressive and organized. Great layout and course features and well maintained so no big negatives with the course just need to work around the poorly organized, trained and managed staff.
This is a great course, very challenging and in excellent shape. It is one of my favorite courses!
The greens on this course are very challenging with several undulations. You have to make sure that you are positioned properly on the green so you have a shot at birdie or par. There are some with a couple of different levels which will hurt you if you are not on the correct one!
The fairways are in great shape with some blind shots in to the greens and protected by bunkers that force you to make sure you have the correct club for the distance.
This course is all about the greens!. Get on the right level and you'll have a good look at birdie, if not...GOOD LUCK!
This is a fun course to play if you love to hit your driver! There are numerous opportunities to really smash it but this course is really all about the greens. With elevation changes of up to 4 feet on some greens, club selection is at a premium. If you can get the ball on the right level you'll have a good look at birdie. If not,...GOOD LUCK!
One of the best around!
Very difficult links course. Everything was really maintained and even though 75$ is always a lot to pay it is worth it. Friendly staff and nice all around place. Wish there was more deals under 50 on weekends so I could play there more because of how much I loved it!!
