Great course
Course is always in great shape. It's a long difficult golf course but it's unlike anything else in the area. Highly recommended.
The real deal
Great course. Used every club in my bag including my ball retriever. Good conditions and very challenging. Pace was a little slow but worth the wait. Will play again.
Well Maintained and Challenging
I like Lederach, even though some think the extreme undulations in greens and the hidden traps are a bit gimmicky. I like them, now that I know about them. The course requires careful management, particularly the first time you play. Nonetheless, each hole is unique and interesting, with its own challenges, whether length or hazards or the nature of the green complex. It was well-maintained when we played except for some traps still filled with water from a rain a couple of days before. I will definitely be back, when a deal is presented that makes it a good bargain. The rack rates are a bit on the high side.
Great Round, Great Value.
Played from the tips (black tres). Crazy length and undulating greens make for a challenging, unique but fun round of golf. I'll definitely be playing here again, multiple times.
very nice
First time playing the course and would play again, overall condition was very good and with a little more attention to detail could be great. The only real complaint I had was with maintenance staff, the mowers don't stop mowing at all as you are hitting up. Had 2 run ins with them being rude as well blew a drive onto the previous holes fairway so went back down the previous hole and was cutting back when a crew member comes flying up screaming that its cart path only on that hole and to get my (explitive) back across on to the path. A few holes later a crew member was working directly in front of the green and did not move as we hit up one ball hit his cart, as we approach to hit the shot he gets back in his cart and as I'm hitting he moves the signs that say no cart beyond here, now being with the cart being beyond the sign he points at it and says "really, cant read." Now I am a former Head Pro and I have never seen this before and it really had me rather ticked off. The only real negative I can think of for the course, if they spent more time mowing and manicuring the course then yelling at players it would be 5 stars.
Great conditions, tough course
One of the top public courses in the area. great value for your money, especially if you find one of the many available tee time deals.
Good solid golf course
This is a very good golf course. Greens are tricky, but fair. Very playable but challenging enough for a high single digit handicapper and low double digit handicapper.
Not for the faint of heart
Staff, food & beverage were way above average. The course was in good condition but those freakin greens are borderline rediculous. We were lucky they had been punched a couple weeks ago and still a bit shaggy because o it. Maybe it was the Monday pin placements but most hole locations were either 7 paces just on or at the peak of the tremendously undulating hard scape. Front nine more reasonable. But 11-13 are the kinda holes the pga players were complaining about at merion.
Pa's finest
A challenging course yet forgiving course. Greens large to receive iron shots but challenging with the andulations in the greens. Forgiving first cut of rough and driver friendly course. I play this course 5 times a year and it penalizes me on bad shots, rewards the good shots, and sometimes gives you lucky bounces.
Slower than slow
Don’t go to Lederach on a nice day or weekend. I should have headed the warnings about overcrowding and slow play from so many other reviewers. My threesome was behind three fivesomes and spent the afternoon waiting instead of golfing. The fivesome in front of us didn’t want to let us play through, because there were two fivesomes ahead of them. Which was almost logical. At the turn I spoke with the Pro about the issue. He was aware of the groups of fivesomes because he sent them out that way. He also pointed out that we were still on pace to play in just over 5 hours and that 5 hours is the targeted pace of play at Lederach. It was a cordial and matter-of-fact conversation that left me speechless. This was a uniquely surreal golf experience. At one point I witnessed 15 people playing the same hole. Slow play is the accepted rule here, making it hard to establish any rhythm or enjoy the relatively expensive round. Other than that, the course is nice. The fairways and greens have a ton of undulation which constitutes the biggest challenge Lederach presents. Most holes are wide open and you can’t get in too much trouble off the tee, so its bombs away. Just bring your short game because you’ll need it chipping into and putting on the difficult greens. All in all, the nice quality of the course didn’t make up for the incredibly slow pace of play and lack of etiquette. Try this course out on a weekday when its less crowded and you can really enjoy it. Be aware that 5 hours is the established and accepted minimum pace of play on weekends.
great course
I would play there again Great course, challenging and good food.
excellent staffs and excellent course condition. enjoyed
excellent staffs and excellent course condition. enjoyed
Always a nice round
It's always a nice round of golf. The course is kept in very good condition all of the time. The pro and his staff and the bar / dining staff do a great job of making you welcome. Low - Mid - high handicap players will enjoy the lay-out if they play the proper tee box, of with there are 5 to choose. One of the best in the area.
Incredible golf experience
The staff was fantastic the course was in incredibly good condition considering we has so much rain over the weekend the greens were in excellent condition.
Only course in the area that I use every club in my bag
This course is by far the best value for your money in the Western Philly area. I am a low handicap golfer and love the challenges this course offers for low handicap players as well as high handicap players(multiple tee options). With the exception of hole number 11,( very poorly designed hole in my opinion) Lederach is one of the best designed and well maintained coursed for under $75 a round that I have played.
Fun Course for Good Golfers
This is a fun course for good golfers because the variety of holes is fantastic and you get to play all kinds of shots. True to links-style design, there are lots of undulations on fairways and greens on this course. On the plus side, this means some of your drives can roll an extra 30 yards. On the flip side, you could be in a pot bunker or dune in the middle of the fairway hitting blind. The more I play it, the more I appreciate its design.
The front nine feels more natural than the back nine, which included some "notorious" holes like the 12th hole -- a 628 yard (from blue tees) par 5 uphill-with-wind-in-you-face, the15th hole -- a 445-yard (blue) par 4, 16th -- a par 3 with a U-shaped green, and 18th, which has a ridiculous undulating green especially with the pin tucked in the back left.
This place was surprisingly not very crowded on a Sunday morning but there was still a marshal checking on everybody. Carts are equipped with ball and club washers, which is a nice touch.
As for conditions, the course sustained heavy rain the night before but it drained better than I expected. Other than wetness related issues, it's pretty well maintained.
Worthwhile
I had heard from friends it was a nice course and I wasn't disappointed
Very Hokie course
Greens were aerated and sanded recently, putting was impossible, if course's in general want to do this, and I understand it's needed to relive stress in the greens, they should cut their rates. 69.00 dollars to play this course and you cant putt the greens is ludcris, also the greens had to many unjulations, some pin placements were on to of knolls or side hills. I will not play this course again for these specific reasons. Overall, very overated!!!!!!
challenging course
Very nice course. Pace of play a little to slow. Links style course with some tough undulating greens.
Greens were very bumpy and the course was crowded. Five and one-half hour round. Had not played Lederach in several years, probably won't be back.
Not a bad course, but quite crowded with no ranger to move along slow players. My group waited on every hole and never saw a ranger. It probably should have been cart paths only, but we were allowed to drive our carts on some wet fairways, which did not improve the course condition, despite our efforts to be careful.
