Great layout/ poor condition
Liked the course layout but the the Tee boxes and fairways need a little attention.
The Staff was great!!
A Must Play in York County
Lynn & Vicky Snyder and their team do a wonderful job maintaining and presenting a very nice golf course at very competitive rates with very friendly customer service. This was my second time to play HHGC in eleven days and I will return with seven golf buddies on Friday. The remote countryside location, hilly terrain, natural creeks. manmade sand and water hazards, and maturity of the course that opened in 1988 combine to produce a great layout. My favorite holes are two dogleg right par 4s with a pond and a creek intersecting the approach shots from the fairways at holes #5 and #16 respectively. Beautiful! The front and back nines begin with holes necessitating accuracy off the tee at the dogleg right par 4 hole #1 and the double dogleg par 5 hole #10 (the #1 handicap hole). Challenging! And the par 4 hole #18 is a great finishing hole from an elevated tee box descending over a creek to a dogleg left fairway below and green that sits below the clubhouse / pro shop. We thoroughly enjoy HHGC. The golf course and customer service are worth the drive from New Cumberland.
Great course
Very nice course a lot of elevation changes. The fairways are a bit rough and the only real complaint I had was the cart paths are garbage. They are very rough and full of pot holes, most of the time it was better to drive on the grass than the path
This course is well maintained . Some of the holes are challenging. The staff is very friendly . I don't have one thing by way of complaint about this course
No Course attendants - jokers all over the course
I don't have any problem with new golfers, they're needed, these courses need to make money. but without course attendants at Hickory- its a an s-show on saturdays. There was a 12 man group two holes ahead, they slowed every hole, and at least 4 groups of people aheand and behind us that didnt know what they were doing, they were jumping into fairways - taking two or three tries at drives,, and not taking drops on their own holes, when they went out of bounds. Im usually pretty cool about this, because it happens - but man, it was happening 2-3 times per hole, slowing down play in both directions - ON EVERY HOLE. By all means, get your ball, but dont waste another guys time by taking an 80 yd shot that just gets you back to a 10 stroke hole, Take the mulligan like a man and move on. This course needs an adult to adjudicate and get play going. My daughter and I had to abandon a round. on hole 15 because of the wait - it shouldnt take 5+ hours on a mid difficulty course. Also, the cart paths are literally off road in places - it sucks. Other than that, we had fun, we always have fun - but man they need help on busy days,
Nice layout
Staff was very friendly. Course was in great condition. Greens were fast and had a nice roll. Fun course!
Great Course for my Junior Golfer and I
Took my daughter to play nine holes yesterday. Both uf us were rusty but it was the perfect pace and layout for warming up. Course was crowded due to the holiday, but the players were respectful and the pace was great. I don think we had to wait at all. Good value, challenging holes, neat layout, Cart paths need a little work, but the greens and fairways were well groomed. Guys in the shop were very friendly. Overall a great value and we'll be back.
Payment
Charged my card at club house. Not sure if they were supposed to when I paid thru golf now???
