Nice open course
Played an afternoon game on 8/14, expecting to be one of the few on the course. Little did I know there was a local high school golf team that had teed off about an hour or so ahead of me. Needless to say, playing as a single, I caught up to them quickly (by hole 5). No real chance of me playing through all the 4-somes ahead of me, so it was a slow round for a single player. Would have been nice for the staff to inform me of the golf team ahead of me prior to my tee off. Course was in good condition, and fairly wide open. Little water on the course, and very, very wet sand. Would play again, but will call course prior to playing.
I didnt enjoy it
This course is not taken care of enough. The fairways are more like the first cut and sometimes i cant tell the fairway from the rough! Its terrible! The teeboxes are all marked up! Sometimes they are un level and unbalance and its not in good shape. The bunkers! I dont even consider these bunkers! More like mud pits! There are rock solid covered in tire tracks! You dont want to end up in those! The greens! They rolled really slow. They werent cut! And if it was breaking right to left sometimes they didnt break at all. Very bad comdition. Im not happy with this course and im not coming back
Hot Deal Made it Worth While
I played for $39 dollars to play on a Thursday afternoon. At that price it was a value. The course is in good shape but the design is nothing special. There are a lot of up the hill down the hill holes none really stand out as special. The tee boxes and fairways have some clover in them. The sand traps need work.
Not Worth $80
This is a great course...if you get the hot deal. The fairway is like playing out of the rough because it is never cut. The greens are good. And the overall facility is nice. However DO NOT PAY $80 TO PLAY HERE.
Good course, needs some attention
Got a hotdeal offer on this and jumped at it. $32 in the afternoon so I cant really complain. Course was green but long. Fairways were more like the first cut at most places. Greens were very long and slow. Its a fun track and we moved great but it could definitely use some TLC.
Best shape in a long time
I havn't played course in 2 yrs. I couldn't believe
what good shape the course was in . Staff was
very friendly.
Will play the course again.
Edgmont CC Review
It is a very nicely designed course overall but I guess with their financial state they have trouble taking care of the course. Greens are a little longer and fairways are also in need of a cut. Not too bad though, overall it's so much fun to play because of the design and in my opinion still one of the more fun courses in the area.
Average Conditions
Course had a decent lay out, but conditions were just a little off. Greens were a little furry, fairways a little long, tee boxes a little beat up.
we played the discounted rate on golf now, and it was right on for that. It is nice to have another option near Delco and for $50 I would go back. I would probably not pay $80 for it.
we played the whites, it looks like a different course from the backs and can play tougher.
Clubhouse and bar had some nice views but were not kept up.
Short, but fun
Fun little course, not terribly difficult. Greens were true, but quite a bit slower than you'd imagine. Pretty scenery with the course sort of running through some mountains.
It was a bit of a ride for me, so I'm not sure I'd make it back (definitely not at full price), but if you're close by, it's a fun course to play.
putting on carpet
Was disappointed by speed of greens, very slow. General conditions were good, back nine better than front nine. Not better than local public courses in same price range, probably a step behind.
Appreciated that the course opened itself to play by non-members. Nice staff and friendly.
Golf
Worth the price with a golf now deal. Not sure I would pay full price to play here. Fun course though.
Nice Private Club
Nice course, conditions were Ok. The course was under some repair when I played, but I would play it again.
Why did they paint the greens?
These had to be the worst greens I've seen since last winter. They were very slow, with patchy bare spots, and uneven cutting. Some places were dyed or painted a bluish green for whatever reason.
The traps were horrible. No sand and unraked. Fairways were ok but shaggy in places. Some tees were not level but not too bad.
Yet, It was nice for me to play something so close to home. I've actually played it a few times since its so close and there is not much DelCo public golf. But I could not recommend traveling any distance to play here. The layout does have potential and the setting is beautiful, right next to Ridley Creek State Park. If you are local give it a try.
But its no better than a medium grade municipal course, except for the pretty setting.
nice private course
It was a pleasure to be able to play a private course on a weekend. Therefore,, I avoided all of the usual public course crowds. Mike, in the pro shop put me right out as soon as I got there and played the course by myself in under 3 hours. Other golfers were very polite and allowed a single to play through. The course itself was in decent shape. an old style course that made use of much natural terrain but overall I would say the fair ways , greens, and bunkers, could have been better. Also, the facilities themselves are very dated. The course is challenging with some raised greens, water on some holes, and a dog leg or two. All in all a pleasurable experience
Good layout - needs some upkeep
First time playing here. The course in itself as far as layout and design of the holes was decently challenging and well planned out. But this course is in desperate need of more frequent upkeep. The fairways were almost as long as a first cut of rough and it looks like they alternate which greens to cut on a weekly basis because some hadn't been touched in a while, but others seemed to have been mowed somewhat recently. At full price, I would definitely look elsewhere to play but if you can get it on a hot deal its not bad as long as you aren't expecting a very well maintained course.
This course is very well kept and in great condition.
Very nice course and in great condition. Nice driving range and also good food after 9 holes.
Edgmont could use a little sharpening
Course was in good shape, except for the bunkers, which were almost hardpan. (My playing mates actually putted out of them (successfully) more than once.)
Greens, while in good shape, were deceivingly slow. (Never got used to them.) Some significant contours too.
Also, the fairways were just a touch hairy.
Only two drinking water opportunities that I noticed (lukewarm fountains).
No signs or tombstones at the tees. (We had to start on 15, and without help we would have struggled to find it.)
Finished late (~8 pm) and weren’t allowed to drive to the parking lot. After leaving our carts with the cart guy, had to lug our bags uphill through woods to get back to the cars.
Back tee (blue) yardage is not extraordinary at 6,537, but it has seven (7) par-4s of over 400 yds, including a 463-yard, uphill beast! Par 70 but a rating of 72.4; slope 129 from blues.
While dull on some points, Edgmont is sharp enough to make me return.
Note on spelling: The golf course name correctly/historically has only one “E”. The town it’s in, has the normal two “E”s.
Fair value
It felt like a muni, and for a muni it was a fair value. Paid $30 on golfnow
When I heard it was private my expectations went up. But there is nothing private about this course.
The course is in decent shape, the greens were all consistent on the slow side but true (easy to read)
I enjoyed my round and felt is was a fair challenge and value, would have no problem playing it again.
For $30 with a cart you can not complain.
Just go with the expectation of a muni
