Pleasant surprise
Very cahllanging layout with a nice variety. Of holes, greens are large and undulating. A different kind of layout for WPA, will play it again for sure.
Very good course.
The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The course, while a bit wet in places, was overall in good condition. It is challenging while not being unforgiving. I remarked to my buddy that there was not one hole that was not very scenic. Overall a great morning at Pheasant Ridge.
long par 4 s lots of trees
had lots of fun we had 3groups and finished within 4hrs..sandwiches and refreshments after were good.would like to play ther again
Great Course Overall
Came here to play 9 holes after work. Been here multiple times, really nice course close to home. Pace of play was a bit slow. Owner/workers are always extremely friendly. Conditions are great.
Fun!
This golf course is so much fun to play! Not an ugly hole on the course as it's a beautifully scenic layout and the conditions are very nice. The only thing I would change is I'd cut the fairways lower as to reward good tee shots for those golfers who like to play the ball 'down'. Besides that it's a great place to play!
To many people/no ranger
20min. After each hole.no ranger to move people. No way to get 18 holes in. Now wonder it was a discount. At the most ,I got nine holes in. I think I should get some free time back!!
Longest round of golf ever
Longest round of golf I've ever played. It took over 3 hours to play the front 9. We just couldn't take it anymore and quit after 14. Even though we had a tee time there were 6 groups in front of us at the 1st tee. Each hole had at least four groups on it at all times (green, fairway and at least 2 at the box). It was brutal. On the plus side the course layout isn't bad and the course was in good shape. The price is fantastic. I'm not sure Id return given the length of time to play.
a real value
This was my 1st time here but it certainly won't be my last. Conditions were good, course is challenging but not a ball breaker. Cart paths need some work. My only suggestion would be to hire a teen aged girl to drive a beverage cart around the course on a hot day. I would have bought 2 Gatorades in the bar had I known I wouldn't get another chance until I finished.
Hacks and Neanderthals
First time playing course. When arrived we were informed that "we are so backed up today, you can wait or just leave, if you stay we are giving free dog and a coke". Not a good start... After a few holes behind a foursome that was hitting every ten feet, parking cart 50 yards from ball having to walk to ball and back to cart and the drive to next shot, we were ready to leave. Then when we finally got to the green and take a backswing to putt we heard the roars of an NFL tailgate party congratulating each other for their impressive 5 and 6 putt on the previous hole, 40-50 year olds.
Highly DO NOT recommend.
A walk down memory lane
the course was great but the clubhouse and checkin process reminded me of the old days at the course when we left the greens fee in a cigar box at the house. The pace of play was terrible and is probably due to all the short holes.
A good mix of challenges.
Played this course with an established foursome and enjoyed great weather which added to the enjoyment of the day. We had an early tee time and the place was busy. However, we moved through payment to the tee box and through the course without any delays along the way. Course was in very nice condition and I am looking to playing there again soon. Several multi-level greens provide for some interesting putts. Also noticed black forward tees which are ideal for young golfer.
Not Worth It
To begin with, they need a starter. There was no concept of tee times at this place. The pace of play was horrible and no ranger available. It was like a 3 stooges episode with players all over the place hitting onto the wrong greens, playing from the wrong fairways. They didn't have score cards or balls at the driving range. Sad that with proper management, it could probably be a decent course.
Good condition fairway and greens
Good course with good condition fairway grass and greens. The scenary of woods and hills are beautiful. The cart path needs some repair.
Weather would not cooperate
Played on a day with humid conditions with light showers that turned into a downpour. Got to the 18th hole before thunderstorms started.
Owner (I assume he was, daughter was working there) was very friendly, offered socks to my brother because he forgot a pair.
Course was well kept, par 3s felt like they were all set up the same. A couple dog legs but otherwise the course was a straight shot. Moderate difficulty for me because I usually shoot 115+
Fantastic
The course conditions are similar to that of a private course. A couple of holes are a bit odd in layout; however you can't beat the value here. I paid 20 bucks to play 18 and would have paid 40. The owner greeted me on check in and was extremely friendly and seemed to genuinely love his golf course. I will be back for sure!
Great shape
Nice layout with challenging greens. Varying length holes
Good challenge
Course is very nice, challenging due to the tightness of the tee box. The course forces you to hit straight. If you slice or fade a lot, bring a bunch of balls.
Nice course, friendly staff
5 hour round, but it was a Sunday morning. A starter/ranger would have helped move things along.
Course and greens in great shape. Food in the clubhouse needs major overhaul, but not that big a deal. Will be going back
Hidden Gem
Course was in awesome shape. Only complaint is that a marshal should be out on the course monitoring speed of play.
Great Course for the $
Pheasant Ridge is a well taken care of public course. You get a lot of bang for your buck with playing this course. It's worth the drive and is a hidden gem in the Pittsburgh area. The staff is very friendly and our group enjoyed playing the course and will be back in the fall!
Your 'review' isn't really much of a review. It should be about the facilities, the course itself, the management, and somewhat the overall experience. I agree that it wasn't a great experience with them telling you "you can wait or just leave', terrible customer service. But to base your 'review' on the fact that other people in front of you were slow and or loud is wrong. You're not playing Oakmont, people who play this course are there to have fun, learn, have a few drinks and enjoy their day.
