Birdsfoot Golf Club
About
Birdsfoot Golf Club gets its name from the birdsfoot trefoil that covers the course, budding with small yellow flowers. Mature trees also blanket the course, making it an especially scenic round in the fall. The front nine has a links-style layout with more open holes while the back nine has a parkland landscape with trees framing most of the holes. What both nines have in common is the rolling terrain that provides some tricky uneven lies throughout. It is a golf course that requires a good deal of accuracy but it is not overly punishing if you are slightly errant. There are some good eagle opportunities on the course's par 4s and par 5s, though it is also home to four of the toughest par 3s in the Pittsburgh area.

fun
It was my first time at this course the staff was friendly and helpful. The course was in good shape for the bad winter we had. Very happy
great value for the price and challenge
birdsfoot is always maintained well. excellent greens, and well groomed bunkers
Great course, incredibly SLOW play!
Course was in good shape for mid November, but 2 incredibly slow 4somes ahead of us kept us from finishing the round before dark. We teed off at 1230p. Used to have rangers on the course moving things along. Need them back
course can be challanging
fairways were aerated recently . greens aerated but not healed,
pace very slow.
Awesome
Birdsfoot is an awesome place to play. The course is always in great condition and is very scenic. I would recommend to anyone.
Not much of a clubhouse
There isn't much of a clubhouse but the course and people could not have been more professional. Although the rain on the night before made it cart paths only, the course was well maintained, the rough was thick and high, The greens had some usage marks around the pins and sand traps were deemed as water hazards. The round took a little over 4 and half hours only because of the cart paths only request by the starter. I would recommend this course be added to the list off route 28. The panoramic views will add to your enjoyment.
A Hidden Gem!
Not much trouble, but very challenging even still. Must bring your "A" game. Course was in great condition, tee-box to greens (including bunkers). Friendly staff. I was a single, in town for the Bucs Wildcard game, and was put with two members who were also very friendly. This will be my first choice when in Pittsburgh next time.
Great course on a great day.
Pace was a little slow. Course was in great shape. Greens a little rough. How can you beat playing a course like this for only $15.00. What a great way to spend a beautiful fall day!
Course looked great even after a couple tournaments recently.Excellent views.
Course looked great even after a couple tournaments recently. Challenging but fun course.
Found this course to be challenging but fair.
We played this course on Monday 9-16-13 and found the course to be in beautiful condition. Although play was somewhat slow due to being fully booked we still had a enjoyable round of golf. The course was in great condition as the fairways and greens have benefited from all of the rain we have had this summer. The only downfall was the bunkers which were very wet and some actually held water, not a big issue. With all of the beautiful views and the challenging layout Birdsfoot is now our favorite course to play in Pa.
Nice mix of different hole types
Complete variety hole layouts from linx style to tight tunneled fairways. Par 3's were challenging. Many greens generated difficult putts depending upon pin placement. Only drawback was condition of the greens was somewhat rough.
One of the best links course in Pittsburgh
Course in nice shape. Large fast greens but a little bumpy though. Nice fairways, bunkers, tee boxes. Beautiful course. Nothing bad to say. One of my favorites here in Pittsburgh. For $35, it is a must play. Played on a Sunday afternoon during football season. Pace of play was excellent. Play the right tee boxes, and you will have a nice time.
good course with open fairways
this course has a lot of sand traps, unfortunately they need SAND. with that said, I liked the rest of the course.
Beautiful Day! Incredible value!!
I got a 3:30 tee time. I went out immediately, and played the front nine in about one hour. I got behind a couple of slow groups, but that allowed me some time to enjoy the scenery. I have played Birdsfoot since it opened; I really like the course. If you are a fifteen handicap or higher, play the white tees. Sometimes play is slow. i think that may be due to players choosing the blue tees(6300+) rather than the white(5600+). The greens were more marked up than I have ever seen them, but that is to be expected with so much play. Aeration will help this.
Regular green fees are now $68.00. I can't pay that, but if I can play Birdsfoot (18/cart)for less than I would pay for walking at South Park, it's not a hard decision. The 9 hole SP course is in atrocious shape.
Tremenous Views
Birdsfoot is one of my favorite courses in the area. The views from some of the tee boxes are amongt he best in Western PA. We played on Labor Day and the fairways and greens were in very good condition.
The only problem was the sand traps. Every single one (and there are numerous) were completely unplayable. No idea what happened or why the management had not addressed the situation, but this is unfortunate as the rest of the course is first rate. Hopefully they will rectify this by next season.
Highland gem
Long views of the rural Western PA countryside make this course memorable; challenging tee shots and long par 3s make it worth playing.
- Greens were perfect, held and rolled true.
- Tee shots vary. Need draw and cut capability
- Plenty of sand.
We played two days after a rainstorm, and bunkers were not drained very well even with 48 hrs of dryness. Also, fracking well off the 15th fairway isn't pretty.
Other than that, beautiful golf course. Can't wait to play in the autumn.
Tight and fun
The course is beautiful. The fairways are in excellent condition. Some holes are a little tight but very playable. Long hitters with a slice or hook will find that some holes do not forgive. We played after a 2 day rain and found the traps wet and firm. Greens were in excellent condition
A declining course
I am normally not too picky, realizing running a course is difficult but Birdsfoot has really gone down hill. Where to start- The course was overbooked resulting in a 5 hr round. The sandtraps had not been addressed in seemingly months and most were full of water with no sand at all. Both carts we had were dirty, seats torn and were really junk. Cart paths are basically dirt and we were filthy at the end of the round. Actual course just ok as far as maintenance. We play 2-3 times per week with most bookings from Golfnow. For the money, there are a multitude of courses in much better shape available in western PA. We will not be back.
This course has many yardage indications
This course has yardages on almost every sprinkler covers, and I found it very helpful.
Always nice!
I love to play birdsfoot!!
2 of par 3 holes are pretty long (~210 yd) and back nine has the combo of easy and challenging holes.
