Pocono Hills Golf Course
About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Challenging course in great condition
There are narrow fairways and long par threes on this course but the conditions were excellent and except for a single playing through we were neither pressed or held up. I’ll definitely play the course again ( and bring some extra balls).
Fun day but challenging
Course is in great shape. A few holes are difficult with narrow landing areas a severe slope changes.
Too many blind shots
Course is in good condition. Has some severe elevation changes. Groups of more than 4 were being allowed out. Blind shots so you cannot tell if the group ahead is out of range.
Mountain course
This is a VERY unforgiving mountain course. Most fairways are angled, some severely. Unforgiving even on a good shot. More than a few blind shots. Long par 3's (200+). Elevated greens.
Good course for the price, but...
First, the greens are in spectacular shape. The fairways are average and the rough is rough. The staff is nice. The layout is mostly a good challenge but a few holes are just stupid. 4 is blind and sloping, almost impossible to hit the fairway and stay in it. 10 is the most ridiculous hole I've seen. Play gets terribly slow on the hard holes because non golfers can't handle them.
One of the BEST in Poconos
This is a little hidden gem in the Poconos. Price is right, conditions are ALWAYS great and the layout is challenging. Not playing long from the white tees and birdies can be had. The restaurant serves great food and the STAFF are awesome. 36 holes whenever I go!
Hidden Gem
This course is always in fantastic shape. Great for mid to high handicaps. Better than the more well known courses in the area. Always get a tee time. Staff is great. Only knock is there is no Range or practice green. 5 stars from me
Need to spend some $$ Updating
Good layout, and enjoyable terrain changes. Cart path are impossible condition. Some money needs to be spent to upgrade and repair.
Father Daughter outing
Excellent time to be out a share a day with your children.
Course
Course was in nice condition and greens very good. It is still tight in some spots, but lots of fun.
Fun course in the Poconos
I've driven by this course many times without realizing there were 18 holes tucked off of Rt209. Staff was welcoming upon arrival. No practice/putting areas; just chipping in the grassy areas around the 1st tee. I would consider the 1st three holes as warm up holes as they are short and not very demanding. The following holes ratchet up the difficulty and visual appeal. Keep in mind that the ball will break away from the mountain and you'll do just fine. I'd have to say that the par 3s are the foundation of this course. except for 2 holes, they all played over 200yds from the blue tees. Driving areas are tight but less than driver can pulled for most of them. Poconos Hills is a fun course that should be on your play-list.
Father Daughter Outing
Very enjoyable round and everything about the course and it's amenities met our expectations.
Nice course but missing something
I would love to see a practice chipping/putting green!
