Great course, great condition, very pleasant staff
This has a cool old style layout. Hit it solid you will score well.
Because of hot wet conditions, the course has been putting sand on their greens every 2 weeks and has let them grow more than normally. Putting was a challenge and there was very little roll out on approach shots. Other that that the course was in excellent condition.
This is a traditional parkland style course that is not heavily wooded but has enough trees to require accurate shots. The greens are moderately to heavily bunkered and the slopes on the greens
require proper placement of approach shots if you want to score well. Conditions were excellent with no visible flaws on the greens. Some minor drawbacks are no driving range (although they have a couple of nets you can hit into) and no real practice green, although they are building a large practice green that looks like it will be ready soon.
Great course, great condition, very pleasant staff
Downingtown is a great course, it was in excellent condition and the starter is terrific. A definite must play.
Great round, will be back for sure
Had an awesome time here with a few of my friends. Staff was very friendly from bag drop to pro shop to starter. All very knowledgeable and helpful. Was excited to see they are adding a huge new putting green too. Can't wait to play here again!
Great course
Very nice layout and the entire course is always in great shape. The pros are knowledgeable and very friendly. I’ve played this course many times and will continue to play it regularly.
Great course
Fun layout with knowledgeable staff and robust pro shop. Always enjoy playing here and excited to see them building a new putting green.
Nice course, a couple of weeks away from being perfect.
Practice Facility
Layout and staff were great. Greens were just air rated, but will be great soon. Only negative is no driving range or practice green.
Ba-Ba-Boo-e-2
I regularly include D-town in my local public and private rotation. Jaws and the team are making changes constantly! Including a NEW putting green! Putting clinics on Friday night! And Tom's best of bloody Mary's at the turn. Friendly pro shop staff and quick witted starters will get you singing the wrenches! If you haven't been to this track in a while, I highly recommend you check it out! Cannot wait for the weather to turn and see this place at its best!
Great solo experience!
I came to golf at Downingtown Country Club alone and was warmly greeted by the pro shop staff and immediately hooked up with a group. What a relief not to have to hang around and hope someone would take pity on me! They did a nice job of including me in the right group.
The changes to the course layout are really positive. The staff told me there is a new putting green opening in May, and since this is an area of my game that needs work I may also take them up on the Friday night putting clinics.
It was great to see Ron there that day - he is so positive and adds to the positive atmosphere in Downingtown. Great day of golf.
Played at Downingtown Country Club for the first time in years yesterday and all I can say is WOW. What an all around improvement. The course condition were absolutely immaculate and this is at the end of February! Cant wait to see what the course looks like once the weather breaks. The staff was great from the very kind and helpful golf staff to the tavern staff, DCC is full of all-stars! Cant wait until my next visit to Downingtown!
Tough Course - Poor course conditions
NIce course but there were leaves everywhere and it is the end of November. Most leaves should be gone by now. Then we saw the one guy working with the blower and it was evident as to why there were leaves everywhere. My grandmother could work faster than that guy. They need more and better grounds crew employees.
This course is regularly priced in the $70 during the summer and that is a complete ripoff. Like other Ron Jaworski courses it is overpriced.
Slow Weekend Play
No ranger, ever. For a chilly Saturday morning, when beginners generally don't appear, I don't understand how a Jaworski course can ignore slow pace of play. I like the course. I like the people. But the pace is brutal. The layout allows you to see the gaps between groups. Too much waiting on tee box [Hole #3 there were two foursomes]. Yet nobody at the course seems to notice or care.
I'd rather play on an average course with better pace of play.
Course was in great shape. Very slow round, took 4 hours 45 minutes. The half way house was closed by the time we got there.
Jrb85,
Please call me and let me know, how we can improve our course for you?
