Really needs help!
Played in 2014 and it was good. Played in late July 2015 and it seemed as though they never touched a thing since early spring. Hard to find grass on the fairways, bunkers and greens were atrocious. Teed off at 1:30pm, Friday afternoon, got to the 10th hole at 4pm (not too bad) and all of a sudden a league starts. 12 people on the 10th tee. Really? Not recommended at all.
nice municipal course
nice course but wish the city had more money to maintain it better . the pro shop and clubhouse are nothing to write home about, but the course is nice.. the price is right if you go through golfnow and they do offer a decent senior price. if they could just come up to date with the clubhouse and amenities it would become something special..
long course
The weather was overcast but no rain.
the greens had been airated a few weeks ago and were almost grown in. hole s 11 and 12 were the most challenging with water on both. overall a great day and a good course
average
The fairways and first cut were like riding over a bump strip at a mall.
Great layout with beautiful scenery/setting
I have been playing this course since the early 70s when I lived in Phlly and always came back. I since moved to the Wilkes Barre region. You can easily walk the course since it was naturally set up that way. The conditions in the fairways should be better but the dry summer this year and their lack of early watering was the cause. However, the crew is taking much better steps and greening back the course and the greens, which I recently played, are in excellent condition.
A great place to play for the money
This course is not a premium course, by any means, but it is well maintained and very reasonable priced. I am sure I will play this course many times in the future.
Below Par!
Nice design, however the conditions of the course are poor. Only paid $10 for 18 holes with GolfNow. It is not worth any more than that.
course is in total disrepair
Came in from out of town. Played 2 courses in 2 days. First was blue Ridge trail. It was beautiful and real tough. Second was this. Course is clearly hurting. Greens are dead with dirt patches. Fairways are the same. Hit a drive down the middle and you're sitting in a dirt patch with maybe a patch of grass. The facilities are outdated aND off nothing special. I've played 30 plus rounds this year and this course was in the worst shape by far. If you're coming in to go to Mohegan sun like we were, just skip this course.
Average Condition but Good Value for Golf Now Deal
Played the course mid-week so number of players was lower than typical. Course was in reasonably good condition, but I've seen it in better shape. Some greens had damaged areas you had to put around, but most were in good condition. Greens are good sized so you have a chance of actually hitting them. Have played here on Friday and weekends and it can get pretty slow. Good value for the dollars, especially since we got a good rate via Golf Now.
needs work
Tee boxes some greens and traps in poor condition compared to years ago. Use to be the jewel of the area. Money needs to be put into course or sell so the new owner can improve. Location is beautiful but only will continue to deteriorate unless the above happens. And yet the course continues to charge top dollar to play on weekends.
Not being maintained
Fairways cut very low to the point of burnout. More rough than fairway. Most greens were fine except for a couple that had issues. Men out on mowers (nothing to mow!!) were inconsiderate. Kept mowing almost into my shot on one hole. Had to stare at him to get him to stop. Kept the mower running though. One portalav smelled so badly it must have not been cleaned for weeks. Gentleman at the counter in clubhouse very polite and courteous. Guy outside tending to carts just the opposite. Will not return until things improve.
Poor
Course in poor condition, tee to green. Would not recommend.
Grass too long
Quite frankly, we are surprised at the condition of the course. The fairways and tee boxes appeared not to have been mowed within the last 5 days. The fairways resembled the rough and the rough was so long, it was difficult to find the ball. We are senior golfers and used to playing in Florida
Decent At Best. Greens in AWFUL condition
Course was in really rough shape. Greens were soooo slow and in some spots just dirt no grass. I mean c'mon man!!!!
Not in good shape ehhh
Stepping to first tee, I knew I was in trouble this day. Tee box was filled w/ dirt, not many grassy areas. Greens seem to have brown patch or some type of disease. Some areas it's like putting on sand. Overall, I have played 8 courses this season so far and WBGC was in worst shape. Maybe they had a rough winter, but I wouldn't re commend this place to anybody, at least not at this time
spring conditions
with the hard winter, the course is starting to take shape. greens need to be rolled.otherwise, just nice to get out and play.
