Great course design. Very challenging. The course will definitely penalize you for not thinking. This is not a "grip it and rip it course" as hitting the ball offline, or over the green is very often severely penalized. Huge greens that aren't all that fast. Fairways are some of the most well-manicured that I've ever played, and for the most part, not all that tight.

I played the course a couple of weeks ago, but I'd guess that this course has four to five outstanding holes, a bunch of really good ones, and only a few ho-hum ones.

Over the past few months, I've played most of the really upscale public courses in this area, as well as some not so upscale ones, and Broad Run is definitely at the top of the list.

All in all, this is a first-rate layout that is kept in excellent shape and staffed by friendly and pleasant people. If you don't care for that, you won't like Broad Run.
