Bad Customer Service
Booked a tee time for three and showed up and was told that a buddy was going to have to ride with someone else he didn’t know. I get that in cases where the course is booked solid you have to do what you have to do. Ultimately he didn’t feel comfortable doing so. We asked if they had an extra cart to accommodate and they said no. Mind you there were a bunch of carts not in use. They said that they could bump our tee time back behind everyone which would have been like late afternoon being our tee time was at 12:50. He made the decision to pass on golf for the day. Me and the other guy went out and after three holes looked back and there wasn’t a single person behind us. During the entirety of our round we never saw anyone behind us and mind you we were golfing behind a foursome who was not exactly fast. We also at one point saw a single and a twosome golfing in front of us on two separate holes which was weird considering they said they could not accommodate a single. We finally got to hole 12 and found three foursomes on the tee box. We weren’t sure what to do so I called the pro shop to see if they wanted us to just play the front nine again. Called twice no answer. We ended up playing the front nine and again we blew through it because there was hardly anyone out there which was word considering they told us they were booked until late and it was only 2:30 at the time. After being told everything in the pro shop and then seeing what we saw on the course in left me wondering if they were honest about everything we were told in the pro shop or just refused to give in as a matter of principle. As for the course greens were in good shape but extremely slow. Course had a bunch of bare spots with really hard dirty. Playable course that probably wasn’t worth the money. Got a call today from the third who decided not to play. Our third got a call from the course today and was told that all the extra carts were out of commission due to an oil issue and that the single we saw on the course was a special volunteer they allow golf alone. Funny they didn’t mention that the first time we asked about the carts. Was also told they were booked that day until 4 pm which I find hard to believe being we went back and were able to play the front nine again at 2:30. Was also told that our third left without letting them offer any options which is completely dishonest as I was right next to him in the pro shop and all that was offered was he rides with the guy or they move our tee time back behind all the groups they were swamped with. Wasn't expecting amazing country club conditions but overall experience left a bad taste in my mouth so we all agreed we wouldn’t be back.
Enjoyable Course for Practice and Fun
I've played Shepherd Hills many times over the years and credit to the staff for continually trying to improve the course. Also when golf can be combined with a nice pub-type restaurant and outdoor eating area, it really makes for a nice amenity. My one complaint, and it's only a pre-season complaint is that there was no mention of all of the tee boxes being closed. And even that would have been fine for March, but in some cases, the temporary tee boxes were moved 100 yards forward essentially changing the course to a long chip and putt course.
Good day at Shepherd Hills
Friendly staff and good course condition especially for February. Pace of play was great, no waiting the entire round.
Great Tight Course
Acceptable conditions and challenging enough. Pace of play and friendliness of staff keep me coming back. It’s a compact layout and great course for Amateurs. Would recommend to anyone in the game.
Great greens
The Tee boxes are in good shape, fairway are okay but the greens are perfect
Nice experience
Friendly staff and teed off on hole 10 with no wait. Nice layout and the course was in great shape. Enjoyed myself immensely.
This course was very narrow only about 20 yards between fairway and someone’s back yard. I’m new to golf and was challenged with not hitting balls in peoples back yards. I wouldn’t suggest going here if your new to golf like I am due to how narrow some of the holes are with houses.
