First Visit
Well maintained course even though it was a little wet due to recent rain. Beautiful views throughout the course. A little challenging witht the uphill and downhill shots but a pleasure to play. Will definetly be back for more rounds.
A Must Play in the area
This was my third time playing at Tyoga and the course keeps getting better and better. The superintendent here is doing an absolutely REMARKABLE job. The course is not terribly challenging, but is really interesting with spectacular views, dramatic elevation changes, beautiful greens with deceptive undulation, and shots throughout that make you think, particularly off the tee. But the stars here are the course conditions and the views. It's no surprise that as a visitor from outside the area, the members and staff demonstrated great pride in the course and offered a warm warm welcome to their golf home. If I lived in the area, I'd play here every day. It's well worth the $49 and having seen multiple other courses in the area on this trip, Tyoga is in the best shape of the bunch by a mile and is a blast to play.
Great course!
My family owns a cabin in the area and I’ve been to many of the surrounding golf courses. Whenever we come up we play tyoga. Have never had any issues here and the course is beautiful.
Will play again
I have played this course when conditions are dry, and the greens are extremely fast, and challenging. Right now we are blessed with lots of rain, they are slower, but perfect manicures condition. The greens are so supple, it wants to bend my divot tool!
Wet but worth it
Overall in pretty good shape considering all the rain. Cart path only wasn't too exciting for me when Im used to flat courses but alreasy booked again for tomorrow..
Gorgeous Mountain Course
I had wanted to play this Ed Ault course in the north central PA mountains for some time. I am glad I finally did. The elevation change and mountain views made for a great experience. The conditions tee to green were green / good, but very wet. Course is a little expensive, but it was worth the cost.
Great condition and lay out
Even after some rain the night before the course was in great condition.
beautiful course
especially for being in september the fairways and greens were in fantastic shape. the greens are very very soft and very slow
Good day for golf
Very nice course, friendly staff, over all highly recommend.
Hidden Gem
Played on a Tuesday morning (9:30a) and we’re the only ones on the course.
The course was in better shape then I expected. Tees and greens were great. Greens were sneaky fast and took a while to find the roll.
Front nine is lined with trees and stray tee shots will be in trouble (or lost). Almost all shots were uphill, downhill or side hill lie.
The back nine opens up a bit but the elevation changes are even more extreme.
Overall bring a few extra balls and enjoy your day.
Wonderful surprise
I am vacationing in the area and I try varied courses whenever able. I had semi-low expectations as the web site was so so and it wasn't very long. ( So many courses talk themselves up.) Noting we are pretty remote here without many courses or population. I've played and enjoy mountain courses which this doesn't qualify. What the other reviewer thought was a side hill wasn't anything. Anyway, here goes.
The condition of the course was simply wonderful. Not one complaint about green fairways or traps. The rough is a little long to penalize stray hits. The greens weren't easy, most I would call moderate, and a few required you knew where to put your approach. I couldn't get in a groove and sink many putts, so I can't determine if it was me or some hidden undulations. They held shots without complaint. Green speed was average.
Fairways didn't get much roll. The were well watered or we were hit with a stray shower the night before.. the area weather has been varied.
The value was really good. Only $45 for my weekday round. I've not had this nice a course for that value, ever.
Everyone was very friendly. It had all the amenities of a country club, albeit from yesteryear, with members having clubs and tourneys. Everyone seems to want to say hi, knew I was a visitor, and were welcoming. Whether the club members or the area culture I don't know, but it was notable. Since I was a single I played thru a foursome who kept calling me sir and waved when they saw me later. The friendliest course I've ever been on. Loved it.
Although it's not a long course, from the Blue's it was still a challenge. As you'd expect, some holes smacked you if you hit errant shots, others let you grip and rip it. The variety of the holes was nice. One hole you enter thru a wooded path and it opens to a beautiful view. The web site didn't do this course justice.
Play this course. Bring a smile to share and enjoy a gem in the middle of.. well, whatever you'd wanna call this gentile area. Normally I'd keep trying other courses during my stay. Skip that, I'm coming back.
Mountain golf on a side hill.
There is NO water available on the course. I was totally dehydrated when we finished playing. The course should provide water on the course or remind you when you pay that you should take water with you. The cart paths are back breakers. Drive on the grass which is also rough. Take lots of balls because the rough and forest is never find your ball land. Greens were okay, but very firm. Land short and let it run onto the green or it's over the back. They also forbid coolers on the course. Cost was $55.
