Hickory Heights is beautiful
Beautiful layout to start, the greens were healing from the spring preparations. I can’t wait to go back and maybe get a lower score.
Nice Course, Painfully Slow
On a beautiful but windy, spring afternoon, this short track had us waiting at every hole. As first time visitors it would have been nice to have a decent course map to guide us. Did I say slow already? 5.5hrs and this is not a long course. On a day this busy it would have helped to have a few course Marshalls circulating as the novices out there needed guidance on course etiquette and pace of play.
That said, this is a pretty course and well worth another look...maybe on a weekday next time.
Fine
People complain about pace of play too much. But a 5.5hr round is insane. No starter, no Marshall. People just lining up at the tee box. Some holes had 4-5 groups. Greens were a mess. Tee boxes all beat up. Fairways were good, layout is very challenging but fun.
Bumpy Road
Course was empty….very windy that day.
The greens were my only complaint. Debris everywhere and aeration mars never recovered from fall. No true rolls at all. 3 and 4 putts abound.
And I’m usually a two putt player.
Very nice golf course
This is our first time here and will definitely come back to play again and again. Love this.
Confusing layout/less than ideal condition
Very slow pace of play. The layout is very confusing as some of the holes are missing signs. Cart paths just stop with no where to go. The tee boxes are unkept. It’s like hitting out of the rough. Not a terrible course, but it shouldn’t be more than $20-$25/round for those conditions.
Hickory Heights
This course continues to improve and will likely get crowded more often. Get it while you can
A Solid Value for an Average Course
Hickory Heights is a fun, up-down and all around kind of course. It plays over, along and through three ravines, which makes for a twisting and hilly journey. I walked the course on a Monday for $21, an outstanding value. But it is a bit of a hike, even though HH is not overly long.
Conditions were pretty good, considering that this area has been in near-drought conditions since August. The tee boxes are a bit rough, with weedy and bare patches. But the fairways and greens were firm. Bunkers were more dirt than sand.
The course was not overly busy when I started so pace was outstanding. I waited a little on 17 and -8, but that was welcome for a walker.
I like HH. It’s a fun and unusual layout and a great place to play with friends..
Leaves much to be desired
Minimal cart paths and in terrible condition for what is there. Minimal signage on the course for navigation. Tee boxes beat up. Got a GN hot deal for half price which made the price worth it, however I would never pay full price to play this course. Decent course layout, but needs a lot of work.
Terrible rate of play
This complaint is not going to go the way the title suggests. We had a group of fpur in front of us who had never played before. They warned us. Lol. No worries. Onky two of us, playing 9 and in no hurry.
There were four behind us. We told them what was going on and they laughed and said it was fine. They werent in a hurry. Then they proceeded to hit golf balls into us on 4 seperate holes. They came so close to hitting my son that I finally made it clear things would turn bad if it happened again. There was only one hole left and it didnt but no one should have to seal with that. When I said aomething to the man at the desk he looked at me like "oh well." Very displeased that was the reply. Too dangerous to play that way. Highly unlikely we will be back.
