Skytop Lodge - Poconos Golf Course
About
Skytop Golf Course sprawls across rolling hills set against a backdrop provided by the beautiful Poconos. The course originally opened in 1927. It has a classic design with traditional features including wide fairways, but the trees that line them have matured into quite the challenge. The 6,656-yard length may seem short by modern standards but don't get too comfortable. This mountain golf course features a variety of elevation changes and nowhere is this more apparent than the small greens where the breaks can vary from subtle to dramatic, but they are almost all unexpected. The greens also play lightning fast. Strategically placed bunkers are lurking throughout but thankfully water only comes into play on two holes. Skytop Golf Course offers plenty of scenic respite as well, with panoramic views of West Mountain.

Different mountain course
Played many courses in the Poconos, this one was definitely not a usual course for this area. No real elevation changes. Played in late November and the fairways and greens were in good condition.
Open fairways and small greens. Speaking of, the greens were really difficult. Rarely had a straight putt. Lots of sand traps around the green, they were hard but were raked.
Staff was really nice. There was no amenities available. No food, snacks or beverages. I understand COVID procedure but I couldn’t believe they had nothing available.
One major gripe was there was a group of 5 allowed to tee off directly in front of my twosome. There was no ranger to speed up play. We waited every single tee until 16 when we finally were able to play through.
Aside from that, solid course and I’d play again in warmer weather.
Hidden Gem
Great course, setting, design, and experience. Walk into another Century when you play this course and that is not a bad thing. It was late fall and the tee boxes were very choppy, but a good experience nonetheless
Perfect weather.
The weather has been perfect, which is strange for early November, but we enjoyed playing there for the first time. Yes, the greens are very small and very fast, but everything else was terrific. Will go back.
Course is great for players who like having to "pick" your shot placement
Extremely Foggy, not the courses fault, but added to the fun. After clearing up it was fun and we like having to play the holes where each shot needs to be placed. Greens are small, not a bad thing, its a challenge and who wants to play "Easy" golf. Overall, we enjoyed this course and will be back again to play.
Great course
Skytop is a wonderful course to play. From tee box to the greens, the course was in terrific shape. Highly recommend this course!!
Beautiful fall day of golf
Had a great day of golf with beautiful views of the surrounding woods. The greens were just airated but were rolling good. All in all a great time:-)
Excellent weekend round
Played round in just over 4 hours. Course in great shape with greens extremely fast. Tee boxes a little rough.
Really great course
This was my second week in a row that I played the course, also the second time that I played the course. The course condition is great, fast greens and small. Can't wait to go back next week
Amazing place to have a great time
It was my first time playing this course, greens were in great shape, pace of play was fantastic staff was very friendly and the scenery was spectacular. Can't wait to go back next week. Great Job
Challenging
Outstanding course for the kind of golfer that loves to make smart shots. You’ll need to be able to hit long irons and find the fairway. Conditions are awesome, bunkers are well maintained and there’s about 3 different cuts of rough on every hole. If you don’t come to this course looking to play your best, it will eat you up.
Great challenging course
Great condition and extremely challenging layout. Always a fun place to play. Good pace of play.
Skytop Golf course was too hard for us
Every hole is a long & steep one with too much slope for us to be able to score well. Too challenging for us. We felt like we had been beaten mercilessly. It was not really a fun day.
