Reading Country Club
About
Opened in 1923, Reading Country Club is one of the area's oldest golf courses. Located less than a half hour from King of Prussia, the course is easily accessible from anywhere in the greater Berks County area. Though it has a traditional layout that doesn't have the length that most modern courses do, that hasn't stopped it from being one of the most challenging public golf courses in Berks County. The rolling terrain provides a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course will test you with lightning fast, undulating greens that are protected by sand traps and there is punishing rough bordering the narrow, tree-lined fairways. Be prepared for uphill shots and blind approaches throughout the golf course. Reading Country Club's par 3s are especially notable for their difficulty.

enjoyable
I have been playing this course for over 20 years......it is always enjoyable and challenging........good tract for beginner or well healed........the greens make the course and remember stay out of the rough, it will cost you a stroke
no complaints
traps vastly improved from spring. Greens fairways very nice.
First time at RCC
Played on a Sunday late morning. Having read some of the previous reviews, I was excited about getting out there and seeing and playing the course. The best part of the course is the conditions of the greens. Without question. Tee boxes could use some work,.
Bunkers were everything from awful to pristine and everything in between. Hilly layout with mature trees lining most fairways. You could see how in its day, the course was highly regarded regionally. We played as a two-some and made good time until about the 8th hole. From there on, we were waiting on every hole and groups behind us were queued up. 5 hour round. Shot my first 82 at RCC and its a testament to condition and quality of the greens.
Great course and value
Very cool old school layout. You must think your way around
Course in great shape, great layout, pace of play extremely slow
Great Day
Course conditions were great. Fast greens and lush fairways. Decent challenge and great sandtrap conditions. Very mindful of Covid sanitation throughout the course.
they are trying
the course is getting better.....they are working on the bunkers ( slow bur doing something).......greens are nice but a little rough due to light punching .......they are trying and within a year should be back to being top notch .....still a joy to play and bring extra balls
Back 4 more
Always a treat, and everthing was super as usual...only negative was some of the lousy players not fixing their ball marks and not letting us play through while they held up the back nine. Other than that, we still played in 4 hours.
Play it again, Stan
What else to say that I haven't before...one of the best/hardest courses around...I am playing there again TODAY!
Always GREAT
I have written other reviews but I'll just be brief... the course is in great shape , and a blast to play... you better hit the ball good and straight in order to score as it is very challenging and requires several plays before you finally figure out where to spot the ball and how the greens roll but you're in for a treat cuz this is a great Golf Course
This is a challenging "old school" course. I enjoy playing the course although my skill level is not always up to par. I would recommend it for the play and wonderful feel to the grounds.
Wow. Great hidden gem.
Wanted to golf for Father’s Day. Got on finding a course late. Most were booked. Found Reading CC online. Read about the history of the course. Amazing story. The course was is great shape, great for any level player. Carts are brand new. The club house is a castle. And green fees are very reasonable. I will be back! So glad I found this course! I live about 40 mins away in Chester country. Check out their site and the about section!
Thunderstorm , eh?
All is wonderful as usual at this high profile, challenging golf course. My only gripe this time was that by hole 4 there was a few claps of thunder. Then we played on and then they blew the evacuate the course horn by hole 11, for 1 bolt of lightning. After a 45 minute delay, and maybe 2 minor rumbles of thunder, we were allowed to return and finish, but 2 old coots and their fat wives played like snails the rest of the way, holding up the course to the point we were screaming for them to MOVE IT. Seriously, these people took 15 minutes to putt out a hole and they were all shooting about 150 for the round. Please, deadbeats , take your wives to Willow Hollow where all hacks belong. The holes their are short and you can break 120 there.
