Raven's Claw Golf Club
About
Located in Limerick Township, Raven's Claw Golf Club is one of southeastern Pennsylvania's best golf and residential communities. It consistently ranks as one of the state's top 10. Carved from rolling hills and mature woodlands, the layout features a variety of different holes. No two holes are alike but they require some creative shot-making abilities. With tight fairways and undulating greens bordered by mounds of rough, the golf course also demands accuracy. The design incorporates links-style elements that present a formidable test. The golf course is undoubtedly challenging but there are also recovery opportunities on each hole, which makes it less daunting for beginners. One of Raven's Claw Golf Club's most memorable holes is the tricky penultimate hole. This unforgiving par-3 has a double-tiered, undulating green with no bailout areas to the left or right. Golfers that hit it short will face a blind second shot.

This course has some interesting and different holes
Course was in good shape
Very Friendly staff !
Some challenging holes
Fun Course, But...
Raven's Claw is a fun and challenging course. It has some interesting and perhaps even unique holes that rival those on private courses in the Philly area, but its lack of 2 basic course amenities leaves one scratching one's head. To me, having neither a snack bar after the 9th hole nor restroom facilities on the back nine detract from an otherwise pleasurable golf experience and make the fairly high playing fee seem out of line. Also, steps and/or railings would make access to some tee boxes easier for those with arthritis or other ailments.
Very interesting course
Very interesting layout - links style with mix of tree lined holes. Need to think your way around the course and make good decisions. A lot of value for your money.
Nice course, very slow
The course was in excellent condition. Greens roll fast and true. Rough is the highest of any course I've ever played. Every hole presented a challenge. The pace of play was horrible however. There was never a ranger present to pick up the pace. We even asked the group in front of nicely to try to speed up a little bit. They replied that if we wanted to play faster we should have played earlier. The group in front of them was two holes ahead. And this was on a Monday! The staff was nice and easy to deal with. On almost every hole there was a maintenance crew working but they were courteous and always got out of the way. That's to be expected on a weekday so no problem there. I would only go back on a weekday since what I have read and encountered I assume a weekend round would take 6 hours to complete.
Pace of play
No course should ever take 5 and a half hours to play. Much like any major sporting event or concert they worried about getting you into the venue and taking your money, who cares how you leave. Once on the course who really gives a (fill in the blank) about you, they have your hard earned money. It will only be from desperation to find a course will I return.
Nice Course, Slow Round
The course is in very nice condition and the greens are in far better shape than they were last year. Unfortunately, there were a few very slow groups that made the pace of play maddeningly slow. That said, I have played the course in the past and never dealt with such a slow pace of play (although it is never particularly fast). The staff was very courteous and did what they could about the slow play, I think it was just a bad luck day. The course is a nice layout but I'm not sure I would recommend it for ladies or juniors as there are some forced carries / drastic elevation changes.
Nice course but way too packed
They let way too many people on the course at one time. Literally took us 3 hours to get 9 holes in so we pulled off and got a voucher for 9 another time. Playing surfaces were nice, but made for a miserably long day with the back ups.
Quick Round on Mother's Day
I've played this course dozens of times so I know what to expect. My gut feeling is that Raven's is trying to make the course easier. Some places where there were white stakes are now red. Fescue where you would once lose your ball is now removed. I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad but just noting.
I always enjoy the round though because I find each hole as its own uniqueness. We played in 4 hours as a 4some so there were no complaints on that end. I never have issues with the staff. I'd reccomend Raven's Claw as a fair course for the price.
Ravens claw
Completely overpriced and some of the worst green conditions I ever subjected myself too
come back in june or july
Greens was recently airrated/aerated. Rest of the course is in adequate condition. You are probably better off finding other courses to play for at least a month given the severity of the greens.
Same Ole Same Ole
My buddy & myself had the glorious privilege of playing last Monday afternoon. Weather was beautiful. This was our 4th or 5th time playing here. I believe we have played the course from the 1st tee as intended just once. Every other round we have started on random holes because they are working on the course. This round was no different.
We noticed a couple hot deals pop up on Golfnow randomly for the afternoon so we scooped them up considering the reviews. We were mistaken. When we arrived, the guy in the clubhouse informed us that they were aerating the greens and that we would need to start on number 13. We teed off jammed in between two groups and were waiting to hit and having guys hitting onto us for the whole round. We were told to play 13 and that they would be done aerating greens 1-12 by the time we reached them. That was false. The first few holes were ok because the greens weren't yet aerated. After that, every hole was completely sand ridden and you could hardly make out the hole on some of the greens because there was so much sand. When we reached the 2nd hole, there were kids and guys walking across the fairways with fishing poles, despite several signs stating it is private property. No ranger to scatter them or anything. Guess it makes for a more challenging approach hitting over them. On the 3rd tee box, a collection of no shirted guys were filling up jugs from the water containers as we teed off. Very scenic. We continued and teed off on the par 5 tenth hole and both hit two shots. We were waiting to hit our approach shots onto the green only to notice a guy driving on the green with no flag in. We drove up to the green and the guy told us to just go back to one and play the first nine holes again. Completely ridiculous.
Why Raven's Claw didn't put the aeration logo on the Golfnow site as most courses do says an awful lot about their management. Otherwise we obviously would not have booked here. Not to mention the fact they allow players to play WHILE they are aerating is ridiculous in itself. Most courses will shut the front nine while they aerate and vice versa and you would just play the back twice. That would have at least been a semi enjoyable experience versus the disaster we encountered.
It's a real shame because I genuinely like several of the holes at this course but just can't bring myself to make the hour plus drive again to play a course where the owners obviously could care less about any players that try to play the game on a budget. Will be awhile before I go back here, if it all.
Slow pace
Slow pace plus the maintenance staff closed the putting green 90 minutes prior to the time they were schedule to do so. I asked if I had time to put as my round was 30 minutes away. They responded with, "you have a few minutes." I took one practice putt and a staff member immediately removed the cups and began to cut the practice green. Needless to say, it took me 3 greens to understand how they were rolling. Very upsetting.
Never Disappoints!!
For the golfing experience value, there a few course in Penn that beat expectations like Raven's Claw. It never disappoints!!
Great as always
Condition is fantastic for being this early in the season. Greens are firm and fast but are in good shape. Keep it in the fairway and you will be rewarded.
I ply this course 3 times a year and it is always ssisn good shape.
The case was in good shape considering the time of year it is.
Raven's wind!
Nice course. Challenging. The day we played was very windy. took a 5 iron from 150 yards! Friendly staff and great pace pf play.
winter golf
the course was in good condition to be the winter time
THE GOOD, THE BAD, & THE HORRID
THIS COURSE IS WELL LAID OUT, TAKING VERY GOOD ADVANTAGE OF LIMITED TERRAIN FEATURES.THE FAIRWAYS, GREENS,& TEE-BOXES WERE ALL IN EXCELLANT CONDITION (EXCEPT FOR DRAINAGE).VERY PLEASING TO THE EYE. ALSO, THE STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY & HELPFUL.
AND NOW FOR THE BAD; WE PLAYED 2 DAYS AFTER A RAINY PERIOD, THUS CART-PATHS ONLY. THE FAIRWAYS,ROUGH, & GREEN FRONTS WERE SO SOGGY WE WALKED RIGHT PAST MANY OF OUR PLUGGED SHOTS.OF COURSE THIS HELPED FILL IN THE WAIT TIME BETWEEN SHOTS. ALL IN ALL WE WERE ABLE TO GET IN 14 HOLES IN 4HOURS &10 MINUTES.
AND NOW THE TERRIBLE; THE UNPAVED CART-PATHS WERE A CONTINOUS STRING OF CRATERS & RAVINES ALL FILLED WITH RAIN WATER.,MOST OF WHICH YOU COULD NOT BE DODGED.
YES I WILL PLAY AGAIN, BUT CERTAINLY DURING A DRY SPELL & WILL AVOID THE CART-PATHS (EXCEPT AROUND THE TEE-BOXES & GREENS).
ONE OTHER THING GPS IS A MUST, NO DISTANCE MARKERS ANYWHERE BUT ON THE TEES.
Great Bang For Your Buck
Had always heard about Raven's Claw but never got around to playing it. I came across a hot deal the other day and had to take it. What a treat! This course is in great condition. 99% of the leaves have been blown off the course and greens. Fairways, greens and bunkers were in great shape. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. My only gripe is that you don't get a chance to stop at the clubhouse between the 9th and 10th holes. If you need food or drinks either bring them with you or buy them at the clubhouse before you tee off. Also, I didn't try the food or bar, so I can't give a fair rating on that.
Great Course. Definitely give it a try.
