Overrated
I see why people like this course. The conditioning is top notch and it feels like a course capable of hosting a major event. It’s also challenging with good shot value for an above average player. That said it isn’t very approachable to a newcomer to the game or even average golfer. From the white tees the course plays very long and because the greens are steeply pitched, there is little opportunity to get close to holes. As well shorter hitters don’t really have a lot of options to run shots up while still holding the green. If you are out of position it’s bogey at best.
As an example my group had an 8 handicap that shot 83 and three 15-20s that couldn’t break 100. That speaks to the difficulty. I wouldn’t recommend this course for the average weekend player. You will leave exhausted and feeling disenchanted with the game.
Exceeded expectations
The course exceeded expectations. Fairways, greens and bunkers were all in excellent shape. Lots of ups and downs and uneven lies makes it a challenging course.
Course aerated and golf carts path only
The greens were aerated a few days ago and the golf carts were path only, which was not fun playing. If I knew these information from Golf Now, I would select different golf course.
my favorite public course
it’s my favorite great layout fairways and greens great shape tough by fair course for some reason i play my best rounds at Quick silver i have completed my 181 round today in 2022
Perfect condition
The course layout is challenging and fun. The greens were in very good shape which means very fast.
Great course, great condition
I was in Pitt. for one weekend and had time for one round - looked at Old Stonewall and Totteridge b/c I like those architects, but with price and distances prohibiting I went with Quicksilver. Was pleasantly surprised - course was in excellent condition, even after overnight/morning rain. So, very wet, but not terrible puddling, good drainage. Greens hadn't slowed too bad, fairways were excellent; rough was up a bit, so on a course never played, with several blind shots, lost a couple just off the fairway simply b/c never could find. Really beautiful course though, nice layout, good routing. Staff was very nice. My only (minor) complaint on routing was that the par 3's all played the same distance (from white) with slope, so used the same club on all four of them, and that's just a pet peeve of mine. Staff was super friendly.
All in all, a really nice course in great condition, especially for the price, these days.
Well maintained, fun, and challenging course
I've only played the course twice, as it is not too close to my home and the standard greens fees are higher than what I'm used to. I've played it twice now when I could play at the late afternoon rate or get a special rate, though. The course is beautiful and challenging. It was very well maintained both times I played. It's as nice as what you'd expect for the standard greens fees. Lots of rolling hills. Greens are fast with a good bit of slope.
Wish there was a pace Marshall
It was my first time playing this course, the course was well kept, fairways were cut good and the greens were clean and at times felt like putting on glass but fair. Course definitely brings a challenge on certain holes. The only thing that hurt my experience was the pace, I got stuck behind a group of four by the 13th hole and I was a single golfer playing, it took an hour and a half to play the rest of the holes. I wish there was a pace Marshall on the course to help speed up the pace or have the group of four let me play through.
Course in great shape
The course is in great condition. The greens and fairways
are really nice. The pace was good
overall good - but painfully slow
Very slow play caused an otherwise good experience to be bad - had times where there were 3 groups on a tee - no marshal in sight
