Hole #2 or #3, not sure! Photo submitted by tgmassey on 10/15/2012
Wild layout
For the money best deal out there. However the course has an insane layout and you have to drive through neighborhoods to almost every hole. It’s a fun track if you’re just trying to get out there and not take the game too seriously.
A few bizarre holes
There are few holes on this course that seem unrelated to real golf (e.g., #s 5 & 17). The bigger problem though is the occasional SLOW play. Today I had three open holes in front of me when I teed of in the afternoon. Well, by hole 6 I caught the parade of old men who 1) play SO slow, and 2) make NO effort to at least move their bodies quickly. Some days are fine here, but I regularly have this problem. I quit after nine holes. Would have NEVER finished before dark. It's usually NOT crowded, it's just that this course attracts old couples and the generally discourtious type of golfer.
You have to drive well
At times this round felt more like a real estate tour than a round of golf. Miles and miles of cart driving. That added up to a round over 5.5 hours. Even though we had excellent fall weather and CCP is in a beautiful place in the world, it felt like a long round. The Staff were super friendly and accommodating. There was a frost delay that morning but slotted me in as soon as they could. The course is a nice mix of short and long holes. IMHO, the par 3s is where the challenge is at CCP. Overall, the conditions were very good. The greens rolled slow and not because there is a lot of slope on them. This is a tree lined course and you can't spray it without penalty. CCP is a short, sporty course that you should play at least once.
COUNTRY CLUB
the course was in excellent condition, the staff was super friendly, the pace of play was great, A little hidden Gem in the Poccono's
Fall golf
I have always enjoyed Country Club of the Poconos Golf course. It is one of the most unique and beautiful courses in the Poconos with it's ups downs narrow fairways but generous greens. Breathtaking mountain views are especially in the fall is nothing short of awe inspiring. Fairways are a little tired this time of year but the greens were in excellent shape. I have played CCP more than any of the Pocono tracks we have here this being my first review. Pocono Hills being second. I do consider CCP my home course. I would recommend this course to anyone who enjoys a good challenge. As CCP has plenty of blind drives down hills up and around corners. Holes where you nay be tempted do try the impossible and the wise choice is to lay up. All in all it is a great course to play golf enjoy spectacular scenery and wildlife at the same time
Punched greens
Front nine greens OK. Back nine were punched and sanded we were not aware of this prior to playing
Greens were recently aerated, and back nine was closed. Had to play front nine twice. Was disappointed with conditions of the fairways and rough. A lot of bare patches on fairways, and rough was overgrown. I hope they’re not neglecting the maintenance, as they were advertising the course was for sale earlier this year. Sad to see a formerly well maintained course go downhill. On the positive side, pace of play was terrific, staff friendly and accommodating, and it’s always a good value.
Breath taking views
The course was recommended by Shawnee Village staff.
The front nine was closed, under repair.
The greens were fine,
The tee blocks were ok,
The fairways were in awful shape,
The restaurant was closed,
The staff were polite
The course has breath taking views, too bad it's not maintained properly.
I would play it again if it had all of the above deficiencies repaired.
slow play
there was a 6 player crew in front of us that would not allow us thru. signs says only 4-somes
fairways had lots of heat/drought burned out areas. was much better condition in june
