Mother Nature
Had to play front twice, but course had taken on a couple storms , was nice for how much rain they got
Surprisingly good course, great value.
I'm vacationing in the area and as my usual, I try out courses. This one was lengthy and although this area is remote, it was the closest to Mansfield so I gave it a shot.
It's as long as it states, and the course was in great shape. The greens were cut very low, needed more grass, but rolled good and fast. Tee boxes were again in good shape but some were small. Some were set back in the trees to make any hit sound like a crushing blow.
Fairways rolled moderately, and had no major problems. The course has a fair amount of ponds, water collection, and although some are in play none of them are big obstacles.
It is a hilly course. I don't recall any fairways being sideways, but quite a few are sharply up or down. You'll experience elevated tees and greens. Some holes are wide open with no trees, others start or end in trees and a few holes have trees growing right where we'd prefer to aim (a joke but true, that's golf).
The hole variety was good, although they solved the hill problem by having about five holes that are straight up or down hills.
I only paid $35 for a Sunday round. The course didn't have many sand traps, saves on maintenance, and I saw a lot of couples playing. Folks were friendly and let me play thru, and I didn't feel it played slow. I encourage couples and they feel welcome here since I saw more here than any course I've played. Gave it a community feel.
This isn't a top end course, but it is well maintained, a decent challenge, and has a great clubhouse. I enjoyed the round and people.
