My favorite place to play
Staff is very friendly and will help in anyway ... the course condition has its ups and downs with the weather but the layout of the coarse is the best part... play here 10-15 times a year one of my favorite courses... if you get a chance follow on Facebook and watch for the cross country tournament this year very challenging and a good time
Good Value
I played Standing Stone on a hot deal off the golf now app for $14. For the price, you really can't beat it but if you are looking for a really nice course, this probably isn't for you. The fairways and the tee boxes were not manicured the way you would expect but for an amateur golf it really didn't bother me. The course is wide open, not many trees or hazards making it fairly easy to recover if you don't hit a straight shot. I would play here again.
Standing Stone
The Course is in fair condition the fairways and tee boxes need to be better taking care of.
3rd time out
Do to the amount of rain the course is wet and plays longer but still had a good round golf. We played a few hole with a couple from Todd,pa. that said they would be back.
Windy day
It was windy and the course is drying out some, there are still some wets spots but it's playing easier.
First outting this year
The weather was nice but the course wet and played very long.I lost 2 balls that plug in the fairway. It was nice to get out and play a round golf.
Rough day at course
The weather was good the rough is fairly long making the course play longer, the fairways need cut along with the tee boxes. The course could be better maintain.
This is an excellent course to teach kids how to play golf. We took our 10 year old grandson to play here.
Nice greens
Fairways could use some work for sure , and the worst part of the course was the cart paths. Wow really bad at some points , was concerned of hurting my back lol
Moving in the right direction
I have played this course regularly for three years, and at the end of last year and beginning of this year, the hot weather took its toll on the course. The fairways had dried out and the greens were cracked and virtually unplayable. I made it back out for my second time there for 2017 and am glad to say that it is in much better shape following the rain of the last month. The greens are no longer cracked and the fairways are in decent shape.
The greens are still fuzzy as they always have been but they are green, rolled true to what you read, and are not extremely slow despite the grass length. Now that the course is looking better I will most likely start playing there more throughout the summer.
The course is a nice layout, but is under repair from last season hot dry weather. There are some greens not yet open for play yet, maybe a week or so.So from this season has been some what wetter then normal and having a hard time keeping up with the overall condition.Staff are very friendly and I just like to say thanks to Matt,David,Sue and whole grounds crew for being like family to everyone .I brought my grandsons here to play and they enjoyed it very much.
Just brutal
I've never seen a course in this poor condition.
Course Conditions - Dissapointing
This is the first time I played this course, and it will be my last. I was greated warmly at the pro shop. Very friendly individual.
I went to the driving range to warm up and it was difficult because the grass/weeds were tall.
Next, off to the course. Although challenging, the most challenging part was trying to putt on the greens. A very high percentage of the greens were so bad, that putting was almost impossible. They were so badly in disrepair, some of the cracks in the greens stopped my putts. I ended up not even trying to put, just get close to the pin on my approach shot. On one hole, they put the pin in the middle of the fairway. They didn't even make it known that the green was not being used.
I feel sorry for this golf couse, it has a fair design. However, it would take at least a million dollars to put it back into good shape. From the tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and the greens, all need totally fixed.
Golf now needs to communicate with these courses!
I booked a tee time on golf now only to drive 45 minutes to the course and them inform me that they cancelled their golf now contract. Thanks to them and the wonderful golf now representative, I was refunded but it was kind of a pain to go through.
