Challenging! Photo submitted by erikrabey on 05/25/2014
Layout is unbelievable with outstanding conditions
Make sure you buy a yardage book to show the layout of each hole.
Top of the Line
I can not express how professional and polite the staff was at Woodloch Spring! Jamal politely greeted us at the bag drop, then we went inside to meet Eileen, who was more then happy to help us with our tee time. After a few minutes, John came out to see if we needed any new clubs or lessons! I was so impressed by their attention to detail. We played from the back tees at approximately 6200 yds and it was more then a handful! The course condition was a 10 out of 10, I would put the greens right up there with the toughest in the game. Thank you for allowing me to partake in such an awesome sourse!
Great experience
I have played at Woodloch several times before and always enjoy my time there. I would not call this a top notch course as the 4.9 out of 5 stars on Golfnow's site implies, but it is a well kept course. I would not pay the $90 weekend cost to play there and went to another local course the next day instead of doling out $270 for our threesome. But the Golfnow afternoon tee time price was excellent.
I like this course
beautiful but difficult, the course has some difficult but interesting holes
Course in great condition and a superb country club
Wonderful course with challenging par 5s, a little bit of up and down on every hole. Well maintained, greens were aerated about a week that was the only downside if any.
Challenging & well maintained
Even though the course was aerated, the greens still were fast. Without top dress and aeration holes these greens would be a challenge to any level of golfer. You really need a second shot at this course to know were to play the ball.
greens were in great shape best ones in ponocos
this is one great course in great cond. the staff is great from the cart man to the lady in the pro shop. the only thing that could make it better would be yardage on the tee to trouble and landing areas on blind tee shots.
Challenging and great value
I've played Woodloch Springs dozens of times over the last decade and everytime I go there, it's in great condition, continues to challenge me, and the service is always high quality.
The bag boys genuinely greet you and provide you with the service you need. The head pro is extremely friendly and offered us demo clubs after a friendly conversation about our games and what clubs to use.
I booked a tee time on GolfNow for $55 a person and that is a steal! I will definitely continue to recommend this course to my family and friends.
Meticulously maintained course with some challenging holes
We played on a Sunday around noon and very few players were on the course. Since I am familiar with the area, having spent a lot of time at a friend's cabin located nearby over the past 20 years, I knew the drive from the Lehigh Valley would be slow due to the New Jersey and New Yorkers congesting Route 209, Route 402 and Route 6. I'm not complaining, but just don't be surprised if the 70-mile journey from the Lehigh Valley takes upwards of 2 hours on a weekend.
Unfortunately, I played the course after a few weeks of a dry, intense heat wave. This left the fairways and greens extremely hard. Needless to say, all of our divots were shallow on the greens and tee shots got a lot of run on the fairways. I don't fault the course manager for lack of rain and extremely warm temperatures leading up to our round. I can't stress enough how the course was meticulously maintained. Although it was laid out over a very large area in a private community with house overlooking all the holes, it still felt intimate due to trees, landscaping, and elevation changes.
Now for the actual course layout, it had some very challenging holes where hitting to yardages was a requirement. As part of a foursome that tries to play a different course every Sunday, it is very frustrating playing new courses and not knowing the layup distances for doglegs and hazards. We try to play at a brisk pace and only use a watch GPS with front, middle, and back green distances. I shouldn't have to buy a $300+ GPS to play a new course. In this day and age, golf courses, especially country clubs, should at least have a printable course description on their webpage with at a minimum, layup distances to hazards and fairway bunker yardages. While Woodloch Springs did provide a course description, it was catered to playing form the tips and provided no map view of the distances for each hole. Our round would have been infinitely more enjoyable if we didn't have to rely on a single sentence hole description, or drive down the fairway before teeing off or taking our second shot on the par 5s, to see how to play the hole. This easily added 1/2 hour to our round.
Bottom line, we all agreed we will definitely be back, most likely in the early fall to take advantage of the fall foliage. Excellent course, excellent staff, and fair price for a course this well maintained. I highly recommend this to anyone.
Ths best in the Poconos
I have played at Woodloch many times over the years. It is always in great shape and the course design is excellent and challenging. A beautiful course located in Northeast Poconos in a great community. I have played most of the Pocono courses and this one is my favorite. Got a 4:05 midweek tee time prepaid for $26 which is a great discount for a course of this caliber. Play from the tips to get the full experience.
beautiful mountain course
The golf course at Woodloch Springs is simple gorgious. Upper end Country Club experience.
Beautiful mountain course.
Challenging but playable course with great views. Many unique holes.
Breathtaking course!
The views, fast greens, plush fairways, and just Awsome spread out holes winding around through the woods was just well worth the $. Can't wait to play it again
course was a bit water logged the first 6 holes but got better as the day wore on. will definately be going back
There were heavy storms 2 days prior to our outting amd it felt like the course srill hadn't drained from it by sunday late morning. Other than the drainage problem everything epse about tje course was great and the staff was great too.
Beautiful and challenging layout
The 220 yard to carry the gorge is an incredibly beautiful hole(bogey is good on this par 5). The staff (John, in the pro shop) was extremely friendly, going so far as to getting fre coffee for us, from the cafe, as we waited for the frost to clear. Both the clubhouse and course are well worth the drive.
amazing course
fantastic course the par 5s a highlight especially hole 14,the overall layout of this course is great and the staff at the pro shop very helpful, even at the end of the season the course was in surprisingly fine shape .i will definitely play this again
what a beautiful course
A few friends of mine heard about this course, and how elegant it was. We decided to check it out one sunday, and was astonished how they kept the course, and greens. I would definately play here again, as i plan to.
One of the best in the area. Always a great spot to play,
Wet conditions that day. Lots of rain the night before. Did not have any effect on the greens. Fast and true. Cart path only because of conditions made for a longer round otherwise it was a great day on a great course.
overall nice coarse
the par5's are not forgiving .the golfer should be told the yardage to driving distances.. example , distance to a sand trap, distance to carry slope. etc. the rest of the coarse was beautiful. a pleasure to play.
