Dogwood Hills Golf Course
About
Dogwood Hills Golf Course in Claysville is tucked away in the rolling hills of southwestern Pennsylvania. The landscape provides an ideal terrain for golf complete with mature trees and of course plenty of changes in elevation. Be prepared for tricky uneven lies and a few tough blind shots as well. The small, undulating greens and tree-lined fairways demand accuracy and careful course management. You won't find much water on the golf course but you'll hardly miss it with the strategically placed bunkers and rolling contours. Dogwood Hills provides a challenging round for the casual scratch golfer but the forward tees are also great practice for beginners. This hidden gem is one of the most affordable golf courses in the Pittsburgh area.

Nice but short
The course is only 4800 yards. Most holes play like long par 3s. Even the Par 5s are only 440. Very hilly which adds challenge. Not bad.
hilly...even the fairways
This was definitely a unique course: very short, lots of blind shots, and extremely hilly. I took my teenagers and this course was perfect for them.
My only real complaint would be that the fairways were not great and if you are able to keep your ball on it, you probably won't have a level lie
Very hilly
While this course is short in length, the hilly conditions make it very challenging. This was the first time playing here as I was in town for the weekend. I'll play it again for sure. Great value! Go play!
One-Time Experience
Wasn't expecting the course to be as short as it was. Even though the rating says 5000 yards, it played about 4500 from the Black Tees. Almost every hole was reachable from the tee. The course was in good condition and definitely a good motivational boost for a struggling player or someone just starting out. I would probably play this course once a year.
Worth the trip
While a little out of the way, this is a well-maintained course. It is very hilly, you will have to practice hitting from some awkward stances.
The course is set up well with each tee almost immediately after the previous hole. I was stuck behind a somewhat slow foursome, but still made it through 18 in just over 3 hours, thanks in part to how easy it is to navigate. This would be a fine walking course, though I took a cart.
Some of the cart paths could be in better shape, and there are definitely areas of the course where the cart struggles to make it uphill. They do mark off the worst-offending hillsides, but even while avoiding those you will need to be careful if taking a cart.
As a beginner, the course wasn't too challenging, but as mentioned the hills will test your stance. The greens were very fast on the day I played and made it difficult to pace my putts. My score was about average.
The staff person was very friendly and I would be happy to give them my business again.
Great course for the money
Excellent course. Lots of elevation changes make it more challenging than the short distance would have you think. Greens are in good shape. Can't beat the value.
this course is hilly
tough course if you don't know where to hit the ball. greens have a lot of features and they were very fast. be very careful driving the cart as the course is very hilly and steep. staff very nice. good course to practice your uphill and downhill stance.
Go ahead and try this course, at least once. It is fun.
This was my first time playing Dogwood Hills. Blind holes. Lots of hills to experience. I did enjoy the course.
Awesome value
Hills everywhere! Awesome couse especially for the price. Course conditions where great, greens are fast especially since it's the beginning of the season and it rained the last week here . Would go back again, thanks !
Short and billy, but an inexpensive course
Staff was friendly, Price was great. Played in Early May 2014. Many elevation changes. Would not walk the course. Good course to practice for Western PA golf.
The course was in excellent condition.
Loved the course especially the greens. Staff is very friendly and gave advice on the course since it was my first time on it.
Great value!
Very nice course that's made many improvements. Beautiful Hilltop views. Very nice greens. If your looking for the " country club" atmosphere this is not your place. If your looking for a very nice smaller course that is in nice shape with some awesome scenery and some very challenging holes then this is your place. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. Great value. Well worth the trip. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here.
great round
The layout of the course fairly short in comparison to other places, but it was very hilly to make up for this. Further, there was no sand to be found, and much of the water is out of play. The fairways were pretty long, and the rough was very long. Hitting into the rough could definitely hurt you, as it should. Greens were VERY well maintained, and very fast -- doesn't take much to send the ball flying off. Overall though, it was a great value course and I would highly recommend the drive to my friends.
This course is a great value
The course is relatively simple. However the staff is great and completely friendly. The owner took the time to stop and introduce himself to me which was extremely nice. Great value, will definitely be going there agan!
The course is in best condition ever.
The course is in great shape, rain has helped, but owner and employees have this course in the best condition I have ever played it. The greens are rolling great.
Fun Family Style Golf Course
The atmosphere at this course is great! If you're looking for a country club don't play here, but if you won't a fun, challenging, beautiful place come here. The greens are some of the best I've ever seen and the staff is great!
OK for the money
I mean for $10.00 to ride 18 you can't beat that price. The greens were fabulous but the tee boxes were the second worst I've ever seen. It was almost like teeing off from the rough.
Super Friendly Staff
The staff was the friendliest we've ever encountered. The greens are in nice shape. The grass is cut in the fairways and roughs are trimmed. For the price, it was a great value and the friendliness of the staff was second to none. Go and enjoy a round with your friends at this fun public course.
