Aubrey's Dubbs Dred Golf Course
About
Aubrey's Dubbs Dred Golf Course sprawls across an idyllic landscape of rolling hills and farmland dotted with mature trees. The stunning views that span seemingly for miles make this course one of the most scenic in western Pennsylvania. The tranquil surroundings give the course an air of seclusion, but it's conveniently located just minutes from downtown Butler. Beyond the beautiful setting, the golf course itself offers a challenging yet fair round. The front nine provides a gentle start with softly rolling hills and medium-sized greens. The holes are mostly straightforward with few hidden tricks. The fairways are lined with trees but they are wide and forgiving. Aubrey's Dubbs Dred Golf Course's back nine gets tougher with more dramatic changes in elevation and fast-breaking greens. There are also more doglegs and strategically placed bunkers on the back nine.

Front n Back are drastically different. Open front. Mountain back very narrow fairways. Pros - nice clubhouse if you’re a drinker. Back nine is not a true course. Built in all mountains. Pros would struggle. Some fairways are like 30 -40 yds max woods on most. Almost not walkable. Unless your a hiker. Take lots of range balls.
Lightning Fast Greens
Played on Monday morning after a tournament weekend. The course wasn't crowded and I played 18 in less than 2.5 hours. The course conditions were good and recent rains had perked up the fairways and rough. The greens were great and were very fast, maybe because of the tournament. Back nine much harder than front nine, but overall a fun course. Good value for the money and I will play again. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Nice place!
Aubrey's is a great local course. Front 9 is pretty straight forward, while the back challenges even the best of players. Overall course was is good condition, well kept for public golf. Only complaint is course markings are hard to find -red, white, and blue markers are buried on many holes. Scorecard seems accurate but the various tee boxes don't have yardage markings making the par 3s a guess off the tee.
Nice place, would recommend for others and play again.
First and last time
This was the first time plying this course and probably won't return again. The front nine was very nice course for the money we played but the back nine must have been an afterthought after creating the front nine. Would much rather paying a little more to play a course that actually designed 18 holes instead of designing 9 and squeezing in the back 9. The staff were very nice though
Good Course
Course layout was good however NO HOLE NUMBERS OR YARDAGE MARKERS FROM TEE BOX> NO BALL CLEANERS.
Not bad but once was enough
Decent course for the money. Good length. No sand traps. Not a bad place to play if you just want to get out and knock the ball around or have a few friends that don't play much. Worth a play but I'd say once is enough.
This course is tough
Aubrey's was in great shape.
Greens were nice even on a rainy day.
Very tight on back 9.
I'll be back.
Like Day and Night
The front nine features wide, open fairways with gentle slopes. This is excellent for walking. All the fairways and greens were well kept.
The back nine gives a completely different look at golf. There are hazards to the left and right on most of the fairways as you work your way down into a wooded valley and then back up. The greens give a much harder read. You must ride this section and know how to handle a cart on steep slopes. Have some extra balls for the out of play areas have lots of poison ivy and I would expect some creatures you do not want to meet.
Best Value!
Great course, some challenging holes. Hard to believe the price. Very well maintained for this time of the year.
beautiful with very pretty greens
front nine really open but back nine is a real challenge,up down and sideways
first time here but will be back.
Dubbs Dred
Johnny Aubrey and staff are very hospitable . The front 9 plays short an is wide open, the back 9 carved out of a hill side is a challenge for all skill levels .
Pleasantly Surprised
I had never heard of this course before. The course was in great shape. Greens were fast, it was hard to hold a wedge shot but otherwise very nice course. The front nine and back nine are like completely different courses. The front is wide open but the back is much tighter. It was a nice contrast and made you control your shots. Would definitely play it again.
evil back nine
Dubbs Dred starts you out fairly easy on the front nine but fasten your seatbelt for the back nine! It has some beautiful but unforgiving holes in a valley and the greens are fast and heavily sloped. First timers I would recommend walking around the green to avoid surprises.
A Front vs. Back thing
Although played on an overcast then rainy day, the course rate of play was fairly fast. The front 9 features several challenging holes with clean fairways. On one hole, you have to drive over the clubhouse entry street which creates a disturbance. The back 9 has several holes which are very hilly, greens which played touch (due to the rain), fairways where you can't see the flag/green until your second/third shot and one very tricky uphill par-3. All in all, a nice course which would be a great 18 if the front 9 was duplicated.
Solid Course
Greens were in great shape. Fairways in good condition. Course has a few holes that are pretty tight which make it challenging. Some nice elevation changes and interesting set ups.
Would definitely recommend but make sure you use a cart!
Course Conditions
Course is dry. Pin placement was impossible on several holes.
Buckle Up
Front nine is a Blue. Square. Back nine a Double Black Diamond.
Great features
First time playing here back nine very demanding . Would play it again it was great of them to give you a yardage book that helps. Great price
Clubhouse blunders
Played with a friend of mine, who had to work later, so we booked an early tee time. Unfortunately, the course wasn't open for our tee time causing us to wait. An older threesome arrived later and asked if we minded if they tee'd off ahead of us and we said we did, they then informed us to tee off and pay after the first nine. We tee off, hit our shots to the green and then we hear a thud, the threesome behind us tee'd off before we could even get to the green.
After finishing the front nine, we went into pay. It took some time for the bartender/cashier to get to us as she was mingling with another gentleman. Once we were noticed we were informed we didn't have a tee time and we would be charged full price. I asked if we could wait to see if the system would refresh and pay afterwards, she obliged. Upon finishing, she didn't recognize us and thankfully I had the confirmation email or else we would've had to pay full price.
We did speak with multiple groundskeepers and they were incredibly personable. Spoke with us about the course and gave us some tips.
The course was very well kept. The front nine was fun but the back nine was horrendous in terms of difficulty. Bring extra balls!
Questionable
The overall execution of the staff to get players on the course was very weak. No real pro shop employee or starter to get your round going. I had a bartender take my reservation and after 20 minutes of waiting I was able to go out. Course conditions were nice, tees and greens very flush. Fairways were average to above average. The back nine was a true test, and playing from the championship tees is the only way to fully experience it. Good shot making course, good layout, good conditions, good facilities, average staff, and average operations. I'd give this place a 3.5/5 and it leaves you wanting/expecting more.
