Great Greens
This course is known for smooth greens. It's home of the Lehigh Valley Amateur which is a major local tournament. Play in August or September to experience the greens at their best.
The first 5-6 holes are pretty easy and it ramps up from there. Only water hazard is a small pond on the back nine.
We played early on Monday and did not have any issues with pace of play, it wasn't busy.
Easy course to walk but they require carts on weekend mornings. Not sure if they will let you walk if you pay the riding price.
My only real pet peeve is that they do not do online tee times. Impossible to look at the tee sheet to figure out a time to play when it's not busy. Ask the pro shop and they'll just say "don't worry we'll get you out" which isn't helpful. It's 2016, get with it!
Good Conditions
I enjoyed playing here. All tees, fairways and greens were in very good condition. All holes were tree lined,
with a few doglegs. It was just a little bland. No excitement here. #14 had a pond fronting the green and #17 was an elevated tee.
Sent groups off the back
I booked the first tee time so my group and I could play fast. They sent simultaneous tee times off the front and back, so we ended up playing the front in 1 hour 45 minutes, and the back took us over 3 hours. Sending out groups on the front and back is just pure greed, and completely wrecked our tempo and everyone else who was making the turn. Don't play here if you enjoy playing fast.
Average course with an above average price
Course is usually in pretty good shape. The layout is a little on the dull side with pretty open fairways on most holes. The price doesn't match the experience, but because it's close and I can sometimes get on at a discount, it's worth playing.
Home of the Lehigh Valley Amateur Championship
Always a fun course to play! Not overly long and can be overpowered by long drivers of the ball. For the most part the course is right in front of you, meaning the required shot is immediately apparent, with little obstruction. Fairly large receptive greens with little to average undulation but a fair amount of slope front to back which are always in great shape for a public track. Always best to be below the pin. One thing I always thought was funny is it's called Green Pond but there is only one hole with a pond (man made) and the water is pigmented blue.
