Conley Resort: The golf course

Conley Resort's golf course has a traditional layout that has become a favorite among locals. Beginners can get some good practice on the player friendly layout, while more advanced players appreciate the amount of challenges you get for the money.

Thomas2014, a Pittsburgh golfer who has been playing the course since 2010, said, "There are more than enough tough pin placements if you fly the greens," and Donald8189564, another local golfer, warned, "The rough is deep, and it's easy to lose balls in it if you don't watch it carefully."

If you have a tendency for either drawing or fading, you'll face some trouble either way thanks to a layout that begins playing left to right, but then switches completely on the back nine and plays right to left.

A variety of different holes await you, but two in particular stand out. The seventh hole is considered the course's risk-reward hole. It's just as easy to bogie as it is to birdie on this par 5. For the best position, the tee shot should be straight up the middle, avoiding the trees to the left. There are wetlands protecting the green,s and the tough decision that will ultimately determine your score is whether to go for it or lay it up.

The course finishes with its signature hole. Like the seventh, 18 is another hole that will either make or break your score. This par 3 plays to a green that is not only completely surrounded by trees but also protected by a bunker on the right and water in the front and back. The only safe shot you'll have is to hit the green, but a soft touch is required since the green breaks to the water.
